REVIEW: Urban Decay Vice Lipstick

Urban Decay  launched 100 new shades of lipstick this past June. The VICE lipstick line also includes 20 shades exclusive to Sephora, for a total of 120 lipsticks. Being the lipstick junkie that I am, I had to get my hands on a few of these shades. The shades are available in a range of six finishes:

  • Cream
  • Matte
  • Mega Matte
  • Sheer
  • Sheer Shimmer
  • Metallized

The Packaging

Compared to the Revolution line, these lipsticks are packaged in a lighter barrel with metal and gold accents. The lipsticks themselves are lighter in weight.

The Formula

I purchased two shades of Vice lipstick. I purchased a cream lipstick and a comfort matte lipstick. NAKED, a cream finish, is one of these shades, This colour is a nude-pink. On my lips, the cream shade is soft and creamy. The second shade I purchased was BACKTALK. This lipstick is a pale purple.

Below are swatches of the lipstick.

Top Swatch: NAKED

Bottom Swatch: BACKTALK

Each of these lipsticks gives a beautiful colour pay-off. Although these shades are lighter, applying more than one layer achieves a darker shade. In one full swipe, the lipstick hugs the lips with opaque colour. The Cream shades apply thinner than the Matte shades, but the finish is still light on the lips.

Urban Decay VICE lipstick is available in Sephora stores, or online through Urban Decay’s official website. These lipsticks can also be found on Sephora’s website. In the U.S. these lipsticks are priced for $17, but retail for $21 in Canada.
