REVIEW: Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation

With the changing weather, I spent this past weekend searching for a foundation with a fuller coverage. I re-tested my Colour I.Q. at Sephora to match with a shade from Kat Von D’s collection. This foundation provides full coverage with a matte finish.

The Packaging

This foundation features Kat Von D’s signature packaging. Black rose petals accent the crisp, clean background of the package. The foundation bottle is clear, with swirled embellishments. The foundation features a airless pump.

The Colour

I bought the foundation in the shade Light 44 Cool. This shade is described as a fair alabaster with cool undertones. The foundation is thick when first dispensed, but spreads well and blends nicely.

The Coverage

This is a full-coverage foundation. A single application conceals any dark spots, redness, or other imperfections. Despite being a full-coverage foundation, this makeup doesn’t feel heavy once applied. I don’t need to apply concealer following this foundation, unlike other foundations I own. It dries to a matte finish.

The Wear

I’ve worn this foundation twice since I bought it. It is long-wearing and comfortable on the skin. It does not feel heavy or thick. The foundation doesn’t fade or crease throughout the day. When applying this foundation, it is best to work quickly as the foundation dries fast. This is a great foundation to wear if you are working long days, or are spending a night out.

Kat Von D’s Lock-It Tattoo foundation retails from Sephora’s website for $42. It is available in a range of 38 shades.
