I bought a new Beauty Blender sponge last week to replace the one my dog ate. I shared tips earlier this summer about using this sponge, but figuring out how to clean it has been nothing short of challenging. Here are 3 tips I use to clean my Beauty Blender that I hope you can use too!
1. Wash your sponge immediately after use
I learned the value of this tip after noticing staining on my sponge. Washing your sponge immediately after each use is the best way to maintain it. The less time product remains on the sponge, the less likely it is to leave a stain. Like makeup brushes, washing your Beauty Blender after each use reduces the amount of product buildup on it.
2. Find a cleansing option that works best for you
Different types of cleansers exist to clean a Beauty Blender. The creators of Beauty Blender developed two cleansers specific for the sponge:
- Liquid Beautycleanser – Wet your sponge, pour the product onto it, and massage until the water runs clean.
- Blendercleanse Solid – This cleanser is bar-shaped. To clean your sponge, simply wet it and rub directly onto the bar.
Beauty Blenders can also be cleaned with soap or your favourite face wash. I use soap most often to clean my sponge. This option is more budget-friendly.
3. Pack the sponge correctly
Storing the sponge correctly will lengthen its lifespan. You should let it dry in an open space after each use, to prevent mould formation. You should also avoid placing the sponge in a coloured bag to prevent colour transfer that could stain the sponge.

I’ve been busy with my summer job winding down, blogging, and looking ahead to a new year of university. I’m slowly incorporating fall pieces into my wardrobe. While I type this, I’m also asking my boyfriend to collect a cardigan from my closet because I’m chilled again. Today I share insight into preparing your fall wardrobe, and my go-to advice!
RE-PURPOSE SUMMER CLOTHING TO GET MORE WEAR OUT OF THEM
I wear certain clothing all year-round, I simply adapt the item for the specific season. I pair sundresses with leggings and a cardigan. Some items are not suitable for the fall season, but I find creative ways to re-purpose most items:
- I wear tank tops throughout the year, layering with blouses
- I pair my sundresses with a cardigan or leggings
- My favourite pair of Sketchers Go-Walk shoes are paired with tights or socks
INTRODUCE DARKER COLOURS
My makeup and clothing both transition into fall. I incorporate darker colours into my clothing and makeup. I favour deep red lipstick to pair with blacks, greys, and burgundy. My clothing follows this pattern. I wear wine-colored cardigans, black leggings, and my dark boots throughout the season.
ADAPT MY FOOTWEAR
I wear my caramel-colored riding boots most of the season. These boots are closed-toe, warm, and waterproof. When I do wear my Sketchers, I pair them with tights or socks to keep my feet warm.

I recieved a sample of Revlon’s Mega Multiplier Mascara from Influenster for review. This mascara promises to deliver an oversized lash look with no clumping or flaking. I enjoy finding new mascaras, and testing this one was no exception!
I’d like to start by noting that this mascara tube is very lightweight. It is slim and sleek. The mascara wand is enclosed in a blue cover. The mascara is in a black tube with the word Revlon written across it.
I love this mascara. It lengthens and coats my lashes with a single swipe. Each bristle is tightly packed, allowing mascara to dispense onto the wand with ease. The formula is light and airy. This mascara is matte black in colour.
Revlon’s Mega Multiplier Mascara applies smoothly. I coat my lashes fully with one swipe. It applies evenly and gives my lashes length and definition. One aspect in particular I enjoy is how well the mascara dispenses on my lashes. It coats my lash from base to tip completely. It is both smudge-proof and does not flake. I remove the mascara with makeup remover each evening. Once I apply the product, it stays on my lashes until I remove it.
This is one drugstore mascara I will definitely re-purchase! It retails from Revlon’s official website or your local drugstore for $7.98
Note taking is an essential skill for college students. I am a meticulous note taker. I like to keep notew neat and organized. Want to re-organize your note-taking process? Check out my tips below!
1. Use Headings + Bullet Points to Organize
I use a combination of headings and bullet points to categorize my notes. Writing ‘Major Topics’ in bold letters and ‘Minor Topics’ in italics differentiates each section of notes. Bullet points are helpful to summarize important information.
2. Highlight to Emphasize
I use a lot of highlighter throughout a semester. Highlighting my notes allows me to track important information. It is also a useful technique to find specific topics within my notes.
3. Dedicate a New Page to Each Day
I start notes for each new day on a new page. This process creates an organized sequence for notes. It is good practice to date each set of notes. Further organize each set by numbering all pages.
4. Determine Your Note-Taking Style
Various note-taking styles exist. For this post, I will highlight two note-taking styles:
- Cornell Method
- This style makes reviewing easier and more effective.
- Start by dividing your page into two columns. Label one column “Keywords” and the other column “Notes”. Beneath these sections, mark off a third section and label it “Summary”.
- During the lecture, write all notes in the “Notes” column. Capture main points and meaningful topics here.
- After the lecture write keywords in the “Keywords” column. Try reducing each line of notes into a single keyword.
- Use only the “Keywords” column to test your knowledge during review sessions.
- Write a brief summary after your review session.
2. Mind Mapping
- This is a visual form of note-taking. Mind is a process of drawing your notes. This style helps you find connections you may miss with traditional note-taking.
- Steps: (1) Write the main lecture topic in the centre of your page. (2) Record new points around the central topic. (3) Draw lines to connect different ideas.

Each season I discover new and exciting beauty products. The products I discovered this summer delivered refreshed skin, a bright glow, and the perfect pout.
1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Aurora Glow Kit
This highlight palette contains 6 metallic shades. The bright colours give my skin a bright highlight. I use this palette for my eyes, highlight, and lip colour. Each shade ranges from a metallic silver to aqua blue. I’ve enjoyed the versatility this palette offered me throughout the summer season.
2. MAC Fix+
I use this setting spray daily to set my makeup. This product is an instant must-have for me. It sets my makeup while refreshing my skin with a light, cooling mist. It was a staple for me this summer, especially on warm, sunny afternoons.
3. Sephora Collection Triple Action Cleansing Water
Makeup remover is a staple in my collection all year, but it becomes prominent in the summer. I seek a product that is gentle on the skin that is non-drying. This cleansing water from Sephora performs double-duty. It effectively removes makeup while cleansing. I enjoy using double-duty products in the summer to minimize my daily routine. A bonus of this product I love? It requires no rinsing!
4. Kat Von D Saint & Sinner Fragrances
I recived samples of Kat Von D’s new Saint and Sinner perfume. I often wear fruity fragrances in the summer, and these two are a delightful change. Saint is a soft, fragrant floral. Sinner is is warm and woody. One of my favourite aspects of these samples is the travel-friendly size.
5. Beauty Blender
My Beauty Blender is a staple in my makeup kit. This absorbant sponge reduces the number of makeup brushes I use daily. This took is perfect in the summer to quickly apply my face makeup. A BeautyBlender is also versatile; I use it to apply foundation, highlight, concealer and eyeshadow.
I recieved a sample of Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay Blush during a recent Sephora trip. I use my NARS blush religiously, and was excited to try a new brand. This blush is a beautiful pale pink.
I adore how lightweight this blush package is. The glossy pink compact features Tarte’s logo. Inside the compact is the pressed blush. The blush is texturized with ridges. The compact colour matches the blush inside.
I own the shade Risque. It is a pale pink with nude undertones. When applied to the cheeks, it gives the skin a soft pink flush.
A little product goes a long way. I am light-handed when I apply this blush. It is infused with Amazonian clay. This clay is harvested from the Amazon river then baked into the blush formula. This blush is powdery but soft to the touch. The colour is richly pigmented.
I adore the wear time of Tarte blushes. It does not settle into my pores and stays pigmented for hours. I typically remove it after 8 hours of wear without any fade.
Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush comes in a range of 13 shades:
- Paarty – Deep pink
- Exposed – Nude
- Sensual – Golden nude
- Seduce – Rosy nude
- Risque – Peachy nude
- Dazzled – Soft rose
- Dollface – Light pink
- Blissful – Bright rose
- Captivating – Bright peach
- Glisten – Peach-pink with shimmer
- Natural Beauty – Muted strawberry red
- Blushing Bride – Plum-rose
Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay Blush retails for $35 at Sephora
Face acne is surprisingly common. Many of us have dealt with it, and continue to. Acne affects teenagers and adults alike. I continue to battle against acne, into my 20s. For today’s post, I wrote a guide I refer to often to determine each type of acne.
Type #1: All-Over Facial Acne
This acne appears in clusters on the face. Is it prevalant along your t-zone (your chin, nose and forehead). I combat this acne by washing my face twice a day with a gentle cleanser. My current favourite cleanser is Fresh Beauty Soy Face Cleanser. It gently treats acne without causing further irritation. Applying toner and lotion to the face after cleansing reduces inflammation. This balances oil production.
Type #2: Deep + Inflamed Acne
It is important to avoid touching the face when you have this type of acne. Touching the face attributes to further irritation. This type of acne responds well to acne treatments, especially those containing Salicylic Acid. It is important to be patient with this acne. It takes time for it to heal.
Type #3: Chin-Area Acne
I experience this type of acne often. Chin-area acne is caused by hormonal imbalances, and elevated stress levels. This acne responds well to spot treatments. Applying cold to the affected area also reduces redness.
Type #4: Forehead Acne
Dehydration attributes to increased oil production. Staying hydrated will reduce this type of acne. It is often caused by stress, but increased oil production from the scalp will also cause it.
Type #5: Nose Acne
Acne on the nose and surrounding areas results from excess salt intake. This acne is reduced with gentle exfoliation.
