Erin Angela’s Latest Sephora Haul: Summer Edition

Hello, lovelies!

I recently purchased a new foundation from Sephora, and while shopping, added a few new items into my cart. Here’s a peek at the summer edition of my Sephora haul!

Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation

I switch foundations each summer and winter. I previously used Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup, but wanted a new foundation with more coverage. I bought Smashbox Studio Skin Hydrating Foundation after being colour-matched in store, and absolutely love it! The foundation is lightweight, but provides medium-to-full coverage with one swipe. Stay tuned for a full review, but it’s a holy-grail product for me so far!

Sephora’s 2018 Beauty Insider Birthday Gift: Bite Beauty

I redeemed my birthday gift with this trip. This year, I selected the birthday gift set from Bite Beauty. This set contains a sample sized Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Chai, a mini Lip Crayon in Glace, and a sample of the Agave Lip Balm. I’ve worn the lipstick a few times, and it is a beautiful mauve-brown colour.

Tarte Creaseless Under Eye Concealer

I’ve always wanted to try Tarte’s infamous Shape Tape Concealer, however it has never been available in Canadian Sephora stores. When my local Sephora debuted Tarte’s Creaseless Under Eye Concealer, it was a perfect time to try it. This concealer is thick, but provides incredible coverage of dark spots and blemishes. I like that it is creamy without feeling watery or stiff.

REVIEW: Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

Hello, lovelies!

Huda Beauty recently released a collection of mini eyeshadow palettes in a wide variety of shades. I bought one of these palettes during the a Sephora haul this summer and was excited to see how it compared to the brand’s traditional palettes!

The Packaging

The eyeshadow palette is small and travel-friendly. The shadows are enclosed in a compact that includes a well-sized mirror. The outside of the palette contains the Huda Beauty logo and photos of each eyeshadow within the palette.

The Wear

The eyeshadow formula is creamy and pigmented. The mattes do not feel chalky or stiff, and the shimmers are bright. The shadows do not flake or crease throughout the day.

The Palette Options

Huda Beauty’s Obsessions Palettes are available in a collection of 6 shadow palettes. I own the Warm Brown Obsessions palette.

  • Gemstone Obsessions – A combination of creamy, metallic and duochrome shadows. This palette features ruby, sapphire and emerald shades.
  • Coral Obsessions – A combination of matte and shimmer shades. This palette features bright, warm colours that include hot pink, burnt orange and rust-red.

3 Tips to Maintain Clear, Beautiful Skin

    Hello, lovelies!

Achieving and maintaining clear skin starts with the effort that you put into it. Clear skin is not achieved overnight, and it often takes a little bit of work to maintain a glowing complexion. Here are three tips that will help give you beautiful skin!

    Remove your makeup every night

Removing makeup before you sleep each night is crucial to maintain clear skin. Sleeping with makeup on can cause a lot of damage to your skin, and removing it each day will prevent breakouts. If you feel that you don’t have time to remove your makeup each night, a quick rinse of micellar water or a damp makeup wipe will do the trick!

    Moisturize

Applying a moisturizer daily is beneficial for a few reasons. Our skin loses moisture and water each day. Moisturizing your face in the morning and night replenishes lost moisture and will leave your skin feeling softer. As an added bonus, moisturizing the skin will help our foundation apply smoothly.

    Wear less makeup

Like the saying goes – less is more. Wearing too many products can irritate the skin. Incorporating more ‘makeup-free’ days into your week lets your skin breathe. As someone with sensitive, acne-prone skin I continually notice that my skin appears clearer when I go a few days without wearing makeup.

How do you achieve clear skin? I’d love to hear your tips!

3 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Blogging

    Hello, lovelies!

Blogging takes time and effort. I’ve learned a few lessons since I began my blog, and have compiled a breakdown of some of things I wish I’d known when I started my blog that I will share with you.

Maintaining social media can be tiring

It takes time and work to maintain various social media accounts. As I write this post, I mentally note that I’ve barely opened my Instagram app in days. I sometimes feel pressure to consistently post on my blog and social media, but it is a good idea to take a break from posting. Consistently posting and preparing content can feel draining and it’s important to acknowledge that it’s okay if you don’t have posts prepared for every day of the week!

    Be passionate

Writing about topics that you are passionate about will majorly benefit your blog. If you aren’t passionate about your niche and ideas, you’ll find it difficult to make it as a blogger.

Joining social media groups in your niche will be helpful

I’ve joined multiple Facebook and Twitter groups related to beauty and lifestyle topics since I began my blog. These groups are beneficial for multiple reasons. First, it’s wonderful to have a place where other bloggers share the same ‘language’ as you do. I also adore these groups when I’m stuck for inspiration. Finding new bloggers or content to read is an excellent source of inspiration when you encounter writer’s block.

    REVIEW: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Cream

    Hello, lovelies!

I recently received a sample of M.A.C. Cosmetics Strobe Cream with my MAC Haul. I was excited to try a liquid moisturizer that adds luminosity to the skin. I have used this product as a liquid highlighter, and would compare it to the formula of other liquid highlighters I’ve tried!

    The Packaging

This product comes in a pearl-coloured tube with a black top. The outside of the tube features the M.A.C. logo. I like that is lightweight and travel-friendly. The packaging colour is reminiscent of the cream contained inside it.

    The Product

The cream has a holographic sheen, but it is not glittery. I’ve noticed that the shade ‘Silverlite’ has a slight purple undertone to it, and reflects as a pearly-purple shade when applied to the skin. The cream feels soft and dewy, and it is surprisingly moisturizing when applied. I like that the cream doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and the sheen stays vibrant throughout the day.

I own the shade Silverlite. M.A.C. Strobe Cream is available in four shades:

    Silverlite – Silver pearls

    Goldlite – Gold pearls

    Peachlite – Peachy pearls

    Redlite – Red pearls

    How to use it

I adore the versatility of this cream! It can be applied directly to the skin, or mixed with foundation to intensify your skin’s glow. I’ve tried applying it with both a brush and my fingertips, and it applies better with my fingertips.

MAC Strobe Cream is a perfect product to add a subtle shine or highlight to any makeup look! It retails for $40 from MAC Cosmetics official website.

3 Ways to Get the Most Use Out of Your Daily Planner

    Hello, lovelies!

I love using a planner to track important events, due dates, and birthdays. A planner is an ideal tool to keep everything scheduled throughout the year. Here are three ways you can get the most out of a planner!

    1. Always keep it close

One of the reasons people fail to use their planners is because they don’t use it regularly. Keep it close to you throughout the day, and you’ll always be able to check it.

    2. Make a to-do list

I often write a to-do list when I begin my work day. Writing a smaller list will help you track your daily accomplishments and goals. I typically write my list beside each day in my planner to organize each task.

    3. Use the monthly and weekly views

I love this feature in my planner. Writing general reminders in the monthly view (e.g. vacation dates, due dates, birthdays) is a great way to encapsulate an overall view of my month. A weekly view lets me easily schedule daily, everyday tasks.

3 Primers I Use to Perfect My Skin

    Hello, lovelies!

I wear primer underneath my makeup to smooth my skin and help my foundation last longer. A variety of primers exist to create a matte, dewy or luminous base for makeup. I switch between three primers to achieve a matte canvas:

    1. Tatcha The Silk Canvas Primer

I love primers that minimize oil and control any shine in my skin. This primer doesn’t feel greasy, oily or reminiscent of silicone. I usually apply this primer during warmer summer months to control oil and smooth my skin.

    2. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

Smashbox’s iconic primer is lightweight and absorbs quickly. This clear primer is gel-based and it smooths, softens, and primes my skin. I wear this primer when I apply my makeup for a full day of wear.

    3. Too Faced Replenishing Primer

Too Faced Replenishing Primer is a unique spray formula. After trying this primer a few times, it became one of my favourite ones. The refreshing mist adds hydration to the skin, which helps my makeup last longer once applied.
