I consistently search for new brands of liquid lipstick to test. I received samples of Dior Rouge Liquid Lipstick and I was intrigued to find out how the brand’s first liquid lipstick formula stacked up to other formulas I adore. Dior’s liquid lipstick comes in a range of beautiful colours. The shades I received in the sampler drew me in.
The full-sized lipsticks come in sleek, elegant packages. The lipstick container is matte black with a transparent panel that reveals the colour within. I enjoy the square, blunt shape of the lipstick container because it is sturdy. This lipstick features a doe-foot applicator to precisely line the lips.
Dior’s liquid lipstick comes in three different finishes: Matte, metallic, and satin. I’ve tried both the matte and satin finishes. Both lipstick formulas are smooth, non-drying, and transfer-resistant. The formula is highly-pigmented. Once applied to the lips, the colour dries down completely and is lightweight.
I’ve tried samples of four shades in the collection:
- 999 – Matte red
- Hectic – Matte deep purple
- Fury – Matte rosewood
- Fab – Satin oxblood-red
Each colour I’ve tested is pigmented and opaque. The matte shades lasted longer on my lips than the satin shade. There are 25 other shades in the collection:
- Reckless – Matte orangey-beige
- Crush – Matte hot pink
- Impulsive – Matte coral pink
- Shock – Matte magenta
- Hypnotic – Matte dark pink
- Chic – Matte beige
- Savage – Matte raspberry-pink
- Lively – Matte dusty pink
- Jungle – Matte light brown
- Mysterious – Matte brownish-pink
- Dressed To – Matte reddish-brown
- Black – Matte black
- Delicate – Satin light brown
- Frenetic – Satin raspberry pink
- Impetious – Satin pink
- Versatile – Satin strawberry-red
- Miss – Satin pink-coral
- Fab – Satin reddish-black with shimmer
- Rock ‘n’ Metal – Metallic rusty red
- Spicy – Metallic hot pink
- Scandalous – Metallic brown
- Poison Metal – Metallic red-plum
- Hologram – Metallic silver
- Vibrant – Metallic rose-gold
Both the satin and matte shades wear comfortably on the lips. Once I apply the shade to my lips, they wear for 4-5 hours without fading. One aspect I adore about these lipsticks is that I only require one swipe of the lipstick to achieve full-coverage. The colour doesn’t bleed on my lips, but it does transfer while eating or drinking.
These lipsticks are perfect if you are looking for a comfortable, long-wearing lipstick. The metallic finishes are beautiful and richly pigmented. Dior Rouge Liquid Lipstick retails for $43 on Sephora’s website.
We all have mornings where there’s simply no time to complete a full makeup routine. On these types of mornings, I simplify my makeup routine. This simplified routine still feels polished, but takes less than five minutes to complete!
I apply moisturizer every morning, regardless of how rushed I may be. Moisturizer gives my skin a boost of hydration and brightens my complexion. The main moisturizer in my routine is GlamGlow’s WaterBurst Moisturizer – it is lightweight and leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I complete my face makeup with a few swipes of concealer. The concealer I love right now is Tarte’s Creaseless Concealer.
A simple winged eyeliner does wonders to widen and brighten my eyes. I apply Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner because it is waterproof and lasts all day. I then apply two coats of mascara to lengthen my lashes.
Lipstick is a staple in my daily makeup routine. On days when I am wearing minimal makeup, I apply a brightly coloured shade. Two shades that I wear regularly are Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Sarafine, a gorgeous deep red; or Too Faced Melted Matte in the shade 1998, a bubblegum pink.
With the holiday season approaching, I like to introduce extra glitter into my makeup routine. I bought a few shades of Tarte’s Chrome Paint Shadow Pots recently, and they have transformed my eyeshadow looks!
The packaging of these eyeshadows feels luxurious. The shadow is packed into a round transparent pot. I love that this displays the vibrant colour of the shadow inside. The cover of the pot is a gorgeous metallic-gold. Each shadow fits into the palm of the hand and is ideal for travel!
Each shadow is composed of pearl pigments that give it a shiny, colourful finish. The shadow feels creamy to the touch and blend easily. After applying the shadow to the lid, it has a beautiful foiled appearance.
I did notice a small amount of fallout when wearing these pigments, owing to the looseness of them. Once I applied them with a wet brush, they stayed vibrant and colourful for hours.
How to Use Them
I’d recommend applying Tarte’s Chrome Paint Shadow Pots with a wet brush for maximum pigmentation. They can also be applied with the fingertips for an intense colour.
I adore the range of bright colours in this collection! There are 8 shades in total:
- Park Ave Princess – Metallic bronze
- Fire Dancer – Metallic burgundy
- Martini – Metallic bronzed olive
- Top Yacht – Metallic champagne
- Steel the Show – Metallic steel navy
- Beach Bae – Metallic copper
- Sun Drenched – Metallic bronze champagne
- Frose – Metallic rose gold
Tarte’s Chrome Paint Shadow Pots are a beautiful addition to your eyeshadow collection if you want a burst of pigmented glitter in your eyeshadow looks! I love the wear, pigmentation and longevity of these beautiful eyeshadow toppers. Each single shadow pot retails for $27 at Sephora.
For a new blogger, one of the toughest aspects is getting people to read your content. You may be putting in great efforts to grow your audience, but it may not seem like your blog is growing. Here are three reasons why nobody is reading your blog and how to fix them!
Reason #1: Your inconsistent
Consistency is key for blogging. If you write one or two great posts then go silent for weeks, it will be difficult to maintain a dedicated audience. In order to grow your audience, you must post consistently. For me, posting new content three times per week has helped me grow my audience.
Reason #2: Your blog does not have a focus
When I began my blog, I knew that I wanted to write beauty and lifestyle content. Creating posts with focused, specific content will help you establish a target audience. If your readers cannot relate to your content, it will be more difficult to retain readership.
Reason #3: You’re not using social media
Social media is a key tool for bloggers. Blogging is a social activity, and establishing a social media presence will help your blog grow. Having a social media presence will help you meet and engage with your audience. Creating meaningful connections will drive readers back to your blog and help you form relationships with readers.
I adore spring and the bright hues that the season is associated with. Anastasia Beverly Hills recently released a new palette that truly represents the season – filled with bold pops of magenta, golden yellow and teal. This unique colour combination instantly drew me to the palette. I typically never wear bold eyeshadow colours, but I knew that the Riviera Eyeshadow Palette would be an exception!
The eyeshadow comes in a sleek, fun package. Like other Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palettes, the package features 14 pans of shadow, a dual-ended brush and a large mirror. One major difference in this package is the material that is composed of. Traditionally, Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palettes have a soft, velvety cover but the Riviera Eyeshadow Palette is composed of a canvas material. The outer package has a unique nautical stripe design with alternating stripes of blue and white. The package bears the Anastasia Beverly Hills logo and the word ‘Riviera’ in gorgeous gold lettering.
This palette contains a combination of mattes, metallics, and pressed pigments. The matte shadows are soft and buttery. They apply easily to the eyelid and have no fallout or patchiness. Each of the metallic shadows are pigmented, bright and smooth. I’ve applied the shimmer shadows with both a brush and my fingertips and noticed no difference in pigmentation between the two methods. The pressed pigment shadows are soft, but blend easily without fallout.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette contains 14 shades that range from hot pink to aquamarine:
- Sails – Matte white
- Yacht – Duo-chrome mauve-taupe with a violet undertone
- Seychelles – Metallic aquamarine
- Palermo – Metallic jewel pink
- Seaside – Duo chrome silver with a blue shift
- Inheritance – Metallic gold
- Mediterranean – Metallic sky blue
- Estate – Matte peach with a pink undertone
- Cabana – Matte birch-mustard
- Coastline – Matte pastel soft peach
- Bahamas – Matte bright hot pink
- Monte Carlo – Matte cool pink
- Cannes – Matte bright violet purple
- Palm – Matte chocolate brown
Each eyeshadow blends easily and stays vibrantly pigmented when applied to the lid. There is no fallout from the eyeshadows and they wear without fading for hours. One thing that I quickly noticed about the shade Bahamas is that it sometimes stained my eyelid, but otherwise I had no issues with any of the eyeshadows!
If you are looking for a bright, fun eyeshadow collection for the spring and summer months, I’d highly recommend Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette! Each palette retails for $59 at Sephora.
A smoky eye can appear tricky to master, but there are a few simple tips you can implement to craft an edgy look. Here are my favourite tips to help you create a perfect smoky eye!
1. Clean up your lines
Applying dark eyeshadow is often messy. To avoid smudging impacting the rest of your makeup, apply your eye makeup first to clean up any fallout. I like to use makeup remover or a Q-tip to clean up my lower lash line after applying eyeshadow.
2. Play with colours
A smoky eye doesn’t have to consist of black or grey eyeshadow. Try experimenting with rich, dark colours like plum, bronze, or brown to elevate your eye makeup.
3. Apply primer to stay smudge-free
Primer is a lifesaver when I create a smoky eye. Applying primer to your eyelids will ensure that dark shadow stays in place, and won’t crease.
What is your favourite tip to create a smoky eye?
Find beauty, strength, and positivity in everything.
If you have followed my blog for a while, you’ll remember that I shared this story a while back. I explored the idea of expanding upon this post, and share my story with the hope that it will let you get to know me a little better. I write this post to inspire, heal, and recover.
Behind the Blogger
If you’ve read my blog for a while, I welcome you back to Glitter and Mojitos. If you are new, welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here! My name is Erin Angela. I’m a blogger from Canada. I have a physical disability, called Cerebral Palsy (CP, for short). This diagnosis came at birth, where I was given little hope of walking, talking, or succeeding in life. Despite the odds, I have survived and am currently studying social work.
Beauty is more than skin deep. Inner beauty radiates and shines. My disability gifted me with both negative and positive views of beauty. Once I entered my teenage years, my surgical scars and imperfections were a source of displeasure. It took time to accept the scars that mark my body like a roadmap.I slowlygrew to love them. I gained true appreciation for them. On the other end of the beauty spectrum, I learned to recognize beauty in the most unlikely of places. I learned to recognize my inner beauty. I learned to recognize my uniqueness.
When faced with a challenge or setback, I thrive. Despite difficult recovery periods, I bounced back twice as strong. It is sometimes difficult to find strength within yourself. My strength has served as a way to cope and thrive with my disability.
A positive outlook is essential for living with a disability. I’ve always held a happy-go-lucy, positive attitude. I view my disability as positive: Without a disability, I would not be pursuing a social work career. I would not have encountered many incredible experiences throughout my lifetime. Developing a positive attitude is not easy, though. I became determined to focus on the positive aspects of my disability.
