I search for a new mascara every 3-6 months, as they tend to dry out. I’ve only tried NARS blush before. I decided to test another product from the NARS collection.
NARS Audacious Mascara is in a sleek black tube. The attached mascara wand has wide, separated bristles. These bristles reduce the chance of mascara clumping. Each bristle is rubber, and they feel pointy compared to softer bristles.
I bought this mascara in black – my standard colour. I adore the wear of this mascara. It does not flake or clump on my lashes. NARS Audacious Mascara makes it easy to enhance your eye makeup with two coats. I used this mascara as eyeliner last week and it held upsurprisingly well on my lashline.
NARS Audacious Mascara retails for $26. The mascara is available in the colour Black Moon.
I always seeking new ways to upgrade my morning coffee, and recently upgraded my Keurig to a machine that creates lattes. Whether you have a Keurig or a regular coffee maker at home, today I’m sharing three tips I use to upgrade my morning coffee!
Make your own latte
If you’re craving a latte, but don’t have a coffee maker that makes them for you, it’s easy to make them yourself! Pour a small amount of milk into a jar and seal the lid. Vigorously shake the jar to foam the milk. Microwave the jar for a few seconds before pouring it into your mug to stabilize the foam, and viola, you have an instant latte!
Reduce the bitterness in coffee
This is my favourite trick to reduce any bitterness in my coffee. Add a sprinkle of salt to your mug before pouring your coffee to balance the flavour. Your coffee will taste smoother and it’ll cut down on any bitter taste present in the coffee beans.
Brew beyond basic
Introducing ice into your coffee cup is a perfect trick to create a DIY iced latte. Brew a cup of coffee and add ice cubes. After the coffee brews, stir it to melt the ice fully. Carefully pour your beverage into ice cube trays and freeze to create coffee-flavoured ice cubes. Melt these ice cubes with your favourite coffee or add it into your mug for a delightful iced coffee!
Your skin is with you for life. If there’s one thing you should do, it is to treat your skin with care and respect. We know there are certain ways to care for the skin, but most of the time, we just bypass them regardless. Here are three things you should never do if you want your skin to love you back.
Exfoliating 1-2 times per week is great – it refreshes your skin and removes any dead skin cells that may be causing breakouts or dullness in the skin. Over-exfoliating can cause scratching on the skin’s surface which leaves it prone to environmental toxins and breakouts.
Not protecting your skin
Sunscreen is a vital skincare product. You probably know that you’re supposed to wear sunscreen daily, but have you ever considered why? The sun is responsible for how your skin ages, and wearing sunblock daily not only prevents aging, but it also protects against dark spots.
Using the same products for a long time
You may have found the best moisturizer or cleanser ever, but your skin will eventually change and adapt to any active ingredients in the product. Over time, this causes the product to become less effective. It’s important to know your skin type and how it reacts to different products. If your beloved cleanser or moisturizer is no longer working, it’s time to reevaluate the products you use.
I recently received a sample of MAC Cosmetics Strobe Cream. I was excited to try a liquid moisturizer that adds luminosity to the skin. I have used this product as a liquid highlighter, and the formula is silky-smooth, luminous and bright.
This product comes in a pearl-coloured tube with a black top. The outside of the tube features the M.A.C. logo. I like that is lightweight and travel-friendly. The packaging colour is reminiscent of the cream contained inside it.
The cream has a holographic sheen, but it is not glittery. I’ve noticed that the shade ‘Silverlite’ has a slight purple undertone to it, and reflects as a pearly-purple shade when applied to the skin. The cream feels soft and dewy, and it is surprisingly moisturizing when applied. I like that the cream doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and the sheen stays vibrant throughout the day.
I own the shade Silverlite. M.A.C. Strobe Cream is available in four shades:
Silverlite – Silver pearls
Goldlite – Gold pearls
Peachlite – Peachy pearls
Redlite – Red pearls
How to use it
I adore the versatility of this cream! It can be applied directly to the skin, or mixed with foundation to intensify your skin’s glow. I’ve tried applying it with both a brush and my fingertips, and it applies better with my fingertips.
MAC Strobe Cream is a perfect product to add a subtle shine or highlight to any makeup look! It retails for $40 from MAC Cosmetics official website.
I always enjoy sharing tips and advice with new beauty and lifestyle bloggers. When I began blogging over three years ago, I didn’t quite realize how much I would learn and grow as I continued to craft my blog. There are many pieces of advice I could give a new blogger, but here are my favourite tips. Whether you are a new or seasoned blogger, I hope you find these tips helpful!
1. Find your niche
There are many beauty and lifestyle blogs on the web. Finding a specific niche for your blog will help you find your writing voice and set your blog apart from the rest. If there is a specific topic within the broad spectrum of beauty and lifestyle that you are passionate about, make that your blog’s focal point. For example, I like to focus on writing a weekly beauty product review, and publishing weekly tips.
2. Plan ahead to sustain your blog
Pre-planning post ideas is the main way that I sustain my blog. It’s a good idea to have a plan of how you will maintain your blog, types of content you’ll post, and a posting schedule. Planning ahead and writing focused content will also help you curate a consistent readership among your blog’s audience.
3. Focus on writing great content instead of the numbers
This can be tough to remember as a new blogger. Every blogger dreams of having content read and shared by hundreds of people, but developing great content will keep readers coming back to your blog each week.
I recently received a sample of Tarte Cosmetics Maracuja Oil with purchase at Sephora. Maracuja oil is derived from the maracuja fruit, and contains vitamin C and essential fatty acids to moisturize and heal acne-prone skin. I decided to replace my usual moisturizer with maracuja oil for a week to find out how it would react with my dry, acne-prone skin.
How I used the maracuja oil
I applied the maracuja oil each morning after cleansing my skin. Instead of applying my usual moisturizer, I let a few drops of maracuja oil dry into my skin. I applied the oil for seven days without using other moisturizing products in my skincare routine to determine the performance of the product.
After testing Tarte’s Maracuja Oil, I have mixed feelings. The oil felt soft and smooth on my skin. On days when the weather was warmer, the oil left a slight sheen on my skin – it absorbed, but not fully. About halfway through my moisturizer switch I noticed that my skin began to breakout. My skin is typically acne-prone, and while maracuja oil is helpful to heal acne, I believe that it added too much oil to my skin. Overall, if you have dry skin, I would recommend trying maracuja oil. For those of you with dry, acne-prone skin I would recommend testing the oil for 1-2 days to observe whether the oil may contribute to further breakouts. While I was excited to try an oil in my skincare routine, this challenge did not agree with my skin.
Have you ever tried a maracuja oil? What were your results?
When my beloved Nars Concealer ran dry, I wanted to try a new brand of concealer. I’ve wanted to try Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape Concealer for a long time but it’s never been available at Sephora. When Sephora recently began to carry a the new Tarte Cosmetics Creaseless Concealer I was excited to try it! I’ve been using the ‘creaseless’ concealer every day since I bought it, and the product absolutely lives up to its name!
I love the colour scheme and design of this concealer’s packaging. The outside of the concealer features a purple cover with a gorgeous metallic and pink design. The concealer itself comes in a long, cylindrical tube that has a doe-foot applicator. It is lightweight and travel-friendly.
This concealer is full-coverage and long-wearing. It feels creamy and slightly sticky when first applied to the skin, but once it dries, it feels weightless on the skin. The concealer does not cake onto the skin and blends without leaving patches. The formula is water-proof, which makes it ideal to use on warm summer days! This concealer wears comfortably throughout the day and doesn’t budge until I remove it with a makeup remover.
Tarte’s Creaseless Concealer is available in a range of 30 shades. I own the shade 10B which is a fair beige with cool undertones.
Tarte’s Creaseless Concealer is a great product if you’re looking for a concealer that is full-coverage, waterproof and lightweight. It retails for $32 at Sephora.
