REVIEW: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Cream

Hello, lovelies!

I recently received a sample of M.A.C. Cosmetics Strobe Cream with my MAC Haul. I was excited to try a liquid moisturizer that adds luminosity to the skin. I have used this product as a liquid highlighter, and would compare it to the formula of other liquid highlighters I’ve tried!

The Packaging

This product comes in a pearl-coloured tube with a black top. The outside of the tube features the M.A.C. logo. I like that is lightweight and travel-friendly. The packaging colour is reminiscent of the cream contained inside it.

The Product

The cream has a holographic sheen, but it is not glittery. I’ve noticed that the shade ‘Silverlite’ has a slight purple undertone to it, and reflects as a pearly-purple shade when applied to the skin. The cream feels soft and dewy, and it is surprisingly moisturizing when applied. I like that the cream doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and the sheen stays vibrant throughout the day.

I own the shade Silverlite. M.A.C. Strobe Cream is available in four shades:

Silverlite – Silver pearls

Goldlite – Gold pearls

Peachlite – Peachy pearls

Redlite – Red pearls

How to use it

I adore the versatility of this cream! It can be applied directly to the skin, or mixed with foundation to intensify your skin’s glow. I’ve tried applying it with both a brush and my fingertips, and it applies better with my fingertips.

MAC Strobe Cream is a perfect product to add a subtle shine or highlight to any makeup look! It retails for $40 from MAC Cosmetics official website.

3 Ways to Get the Most Use Out of Your Daily Planner

Hello, lovelies!

I love using a planner to track important events, due dates, and birthdays. A planner is an ideal tool to keep everything scheduled throughout the year. Here are three ways you can get the most out of a planner!

1. Always keep it close

One of the reasons people fail to use their planners is because they don’t use it regularly. Keep it close to you throughout the day, and you’ll always be able to check it.

2. Make a to-do list

I often write a to-do list when I begin my work day. Writing a smaller list will help you track your daily accomplishments and goals. I typically write my list beside each day in my planner to organize each task.

3. Use the monthly and weekly views

I love this feature in my planner. Writing general reminders in the monthly view (e.g. vacation dates, due dates, birthdays) is a great way to encapsulate an overall view of my month. A weekly view lets me easily schedule daily, everyday tasks.

3 Primers I Use to Perfect My Skin

Hello, lovelies!

I wear primer underneath my makeup to smooth my skin and help my foundation last longer. A variety of primers exist to create a matte, dewy or luminous base for makeup. I switch between three primers to achieve a matte canvas:

1. Tatcha The Silk Canvas Primer

I love primers that minimize oil and control any shine in my skin. This primer doesn’t feel greasy, oily or reminiscent of silicone. I usually apply this primer during warmer summer months to control oil and smooth my skin.

2. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

Smashbox’s iconic primer is lightweight and absorbs quickly. This clear primer is gel-based and it smooths, softens, and primes my skin. I wear this primer when I apply my makeup for a full day of wear.

3. Too Faced Replenishing Primer

Too Faced Replenishing Primer is a unique spray formula. After trying this primer a few times, it became one of my favourite ones. The refreshing mist adds hydration to the skin, which helps my makeup last longer once applied.

REVIEW: GlamGlow WaterBurst Moisturizer

Hello, lovelies!

GlamGlow is one of my favourite skincare brands. I’ve tried various masks from the brand, but decided to try the WaterBurst Moisturizer while buying new skincare products last month. After a few uses, this lightweight water cream became my daily moisturizer.

The Packaging

The packaging of this moisturizer is fun and colourful. The product comes in a jar that features a beautiful teal-blue. The jar bears the GlamGlow logo and a description of the moisturizer. The jar feels heavy, compared to how lightweight the moisturizer is.

The Moisturizer

I love the colour, smell, and feel of this moisturizer. When I opened the jar, the first things I noticed were the smell and colour of the moisturizer. The moisturizer has a pleasant, fruity smell – similar to blue raspberry candy! It has a gorgeous light blue colour that is reminiscent of the candy-like scent.

The Texture

GlamGlow’s Waterburst Moisturizer feels silky to the touch. When applied to the skin, it absorbs quickly without feeling sticky. It hydrates and locks-in moisture. When I wear this moisturizer underneath makeup, my primer and foundation applies smoother!

GlamGlow’s Waterburst Moisturizer is a great skincare product to hydrate the skin and effectively moisturize. It retails for $62 at Sephora.

3 Simple Tips to Help You Get the Most Out of Your FitBit

Hello, lovelies!

always wear my FitBit to track my daily steps, nutrition, and sleep. It can be tricky to understand all of FitBit’s features, but I’ve learned a few simple tips I’m sharing with you to help you maximize the use of your fitness tracker.

1. Try out the FitBit Coach feature

Your FitBit is more than just a step tracker. The FitBit dashboard includes a feature called ‘FitBit Coach‘ that features over 100 guided workouts and complete fitness programs. This program is customizable to suit your fitness goals, weight-loss plan, or current exercise routine.

2. Scan your barcodes

Tracking your daily nutrition is easy with FitBit’s Food Tracking feature. It is often tedious to enter the macros and micros for every food you eat throughout the day, so my favourite way to track my nutrition is by scanning the barcode of my food packages before eating. This feature includes a camera function that allows you to scan/photograph the barcode.

3. Increase your battery life

To increase the time between charges, it’s a good idea to turn off the ‘All Day Sync’ feature on the FitBit app. Another option to preserve battery life is to disable the amount of reminders and alarms you have set on your device.

3 Looks, 1 Palette: Urban Decay Born to Run

Hello, lovelies!

Urban Decay recently released a new palette, called Born to Run. Once I saw the shade range, I knew it would be a versatile palette for day-to-night wear! I’ve created various looks with this palette, but here are three that I recently created:

Look #1

I began this look by priming my eyelids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I blended the shade Weekender, a light beige matte, into my crease. I blended Baja, a matte burnt orange, into Weekender, I added the shade Still Shot, a bright peach, on top of Weekender + Baja and blended. Next, I applied Hell Ride, a deep fuchsia, into the crease. I used a smaller blending brush to apply Good as Gone (a deep brown with shimmer) to the inner corner of my lid. I fused Jet, a satin black, into the brown shade. I also applied this shade to my inner corner. To complete the look, I pressed Double Life, a copper-bronze shimmer, into the centre of my eyelid.

Look #2

I primed my eyelids with concealer before sweeping Breakaway, a warm ivory shimmer, across my entire lid. Next, I applied Riff, a brown matte, to the outer corner of my lid. I blended that shade up into my crease with a fluffy blending brush. I applied Baja, a matte burnt orange, to the outer corner of my lid and blended. I gently pressed Breakaway into the centre of my lid, before applying Big Sky, a frosted teal, to the outer corner.

Look #3

After priming my eyelids, I swept the shade Blaze into my crease. Blaze is a light metallic pink with a peachy undertone. I pressed Drift, a charcoal satin with micro-shimmer, into my outer corner using a flat shadow brush. I completed this look by applying the shade Wanderlust (a forest green) on my eyelid.

REVIEW: Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil

Hello, lovelies!

I typically only wear liquid eyeliner, but tested Sephora Collection’s Contour Eye Pencil after receiving a sample. This eye pencil is waterproof and delivers intense pigment.

The Packaging

I love that this eye pencil is lightweight. I can easily travel with it, however the cap does not snap closed so I’d suggest being careful when placing this product in your purse! The pencil itself is carbon-black and features the ‘Sephora Collection’ logo. It is sleek, and the product colour is visible.

The Pencil

The formula is silky and resistant to water and heat. It does not feel chalky when applied to my eyelid, and the pencil glides smoothly. Unlike a liquid eyeliner, this one dries instantly. I have not tested the product on my lower lash line, but I was impressed with the 4-5 hour wear time this one gave me when applied to my upper lash line!

Sephora Collection’s Contour Eye Pencil comes in a range of 25 shades. I own the shade “01 – Black Lace” which is a beautiful matte black. Each pencil retails for $10 at Sephora.

How to Make Your Own Instagram Highlight Covers – A Step-by-Step Guide

Hello, lovelies!

Instagram regularly releases new features. One of those features is Instagram Highlights, which allows you to save your Instagram stories directly to your profile. This is a great feature for bloggers, entrepreneurs, or anyone who wants to save special memories to their profile. Today I share how I created my own covers for Instagram Highlights.

I create all my Instagram covers with Canva. The website offers multiple options to create your own graphics, and it’s free!

Step 1: After you open Canva, click create a design. Click on blog graphic, then click elements on the left-hand side of the menu. Next, click grids and select the first plain picture on the left.

Step 2: Click on backgrounds, and select your preferred background colour. You are able to customize any colour, or upload a picture if you want a graphic instead of a solid colour.

Step 3: Click text then select heading. Type the title of your cover into the text box.

Step 4: Click on elements again and select shapes. In this menu, you can select a shape for your Instagram cover (I use circles, but you can select squares, hearts, diamonds, etc). Search the icon you want to use then add it to your profile.

Step 5: Click download to download and save your image as a .JPEG

My Recent MAC Haul & First Impressions

Hello, lovelies!

I recently placed a MAC order to replace my empty bottle of Fix+. While placing my order, I decided to try a new lipstick colour. I’ll review each product separately, but here’s a peek at the items I purchased!

MAC Fix+

I bought my first bottle of Fix+ while in Toronto last summer, and I apply it daily to finish my makeup. The first item I placed in my cart was another bottle of Fix+ to replenish the bottle I just used the last of!

Matte Lipstick in Russian Red

I always buy a new lipstick when I go to a MAC store. The colour Russian Red is a beautiful deep red. I decided on this colour after browsing the red shades available. I’m excited to wear this red shade throughout the summer.

Cremesheen Lipstick in Nippon

I’ve never tried a cremesheen lipstick from MAC before, but the shade Nippon is a gorgeous nude colour with pink undertones. This shade will be a pretty nude pink shade to wear this season. I typically wear bolder lipstick colours, but this will be a perfect summer shade!

What have you bought from MAC recently?

REVIEW: Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

Hello, lovelies!

I wear a lot of lipstick. As a result, my lips consistently feel dry and chapped. I decided to try Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask. I have not tried a lip mask before this one, but this one delivers intensive moisture!

The Packaging

The mask is contained in a triangular, slate-grey tube. It is sleek and sophisticated, bearing the ‘Bite Beauty’ logo on the outside. I like that this packaging is lightweight. The tube has a small nozzle to dispense the mask.

The Mask

The mask itself is dense and thick, with a slightly grainy texture. Because of the thick texture, I find that the mask creates a transparent film on my lips that effectively locks-in moisture. The mask has a pleasant honey scent with hints of vanilla. To my surprise, the mask feels lightweight when applied to my lips.

How to use it

Squeeze a small amount of the mask onto the tip of your finger and apply to the lips.

Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask is available in 5 colours:

  • Lavender – Pale pink
  • Maple – Sheer bronze
  • Champagne – Rose gold pearl
  • Smashed – Sheer candy-apple red
  • Natural – Clear

I own the shade Natural. If you are looking for a hydrating, quick lip mask I’d recommend Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask. It retails for $30 at Sephora.
