About Me

3 Makeup Products I’m Trying to Use Up in 2019

Hello, lovelies!

I’ll admit it, I am a collector of makeup. My makeup shelf (yes, I have one of those!) is cluttered with numerous palettes, jars, and sticks of products. I’ve owned many products for a while, and plan to fully pan some of my beloved makeup products in 2019!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

This is the first eyeshadow palettes released by Anastasia Beverly Hills, and one of the first products that ignited my makeup obsession. I have reached pan on only two shades, and plan to declutter this palette from my collection before the year’s end.

Glam Glow Water Burst Moisturizer

Glam Glow’s Water Burst Moisturizer is a staple in my skincare routine, but to me, the jar lasts forever. I am hoping that panning this moisturizer will be a quick process – I made a significant dent in this product before 2019 began and I apply it to my skin daily.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter

I own two sample-sized highlighters from Becca, and am incredibly tempted to buy more. I recently fell back in love with Becca’s iconic Opal Highlighter. I plan to wear it more often this year, and of course, use the entire product before I buy another shiny highlighter!

Are there any products you are planning to ‘pan’ or use up this year? Let me know in the comments!

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Eyeshadow Palette

Hello, lovelies!

Anastasia Beverly Hills released another eyeshadow palette as a part of the brand’s 2018 holiday collection. When I first saw the colour story within this palette, I was instantly drawn to it. Unlike other palettes from the brand, this one has the most unique selection of shimmer shades, which was a key selling point for me. This is a completely cool-toned palette and ideal for creating winter-ready eyeshadow looks!

The Packaging

Out of every Anastasia Beverly Hills palette, this one has the most beautiful packaging. The palette comes in the brand’s standard 14-pan cardboard package. Inside the palette is a dual-ended brush and the eyeshadows. This palette’s beauty comes from the gorgeous sparkly rose-gold packaging.

The Shadows

What drew me to this palette is the cool-toned shadow selection. I love that this combination of colours is perfect for the holidays or winter in general! The matte shadows are soft and buttery. They apply easily to the eyelid and have no fallout or patchiness. Each of the shimmer shadows are pigmented, bright and smooth. I’ve applied the shimmer shadows with both a brush and my fingertips and noticed no difference in pigmentation between the two methods.

The Shades

This palette contains a variety of smoky, bright, and glittery shades:

  • Fresh – Matte ivory
  • Pearl – Metallic pearl-white with a soft pink undertone
  • Steampunk – Metallic bronze with topaz flecks
  • Rose Quartz – Metallic soft peach with a pink shift
  • Ember – Metallic bronzed khaki
  • Bloom – Matte coral-pink
  • Birch – Matte mid-tone yellow taupe
  • Cinder – Metallic cool-tone beige taupe with gold flecks
  • Twig – Matte cool-toned taupe
  • Teak – Metallic golden-brown
  • Dystopian – Matte dark brown
  • Cyborg – Metallic silver with a violet undertone
  • Slate – Matte slate-grey
  • Noir – Matte black

Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Eyeshadow Palette contains an ideal combination of smoky and sparkly eyeshadow shades that are perfect for the season! I adore the versatility and wear of the shadows. If you are looking for an eyeshadow palette that is wearable for daytime, nighttime or holiday-party looks, I’d definitely recommend this one. Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Palette retails for $59 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette

Hello, lovelies!

When I first saw the layout for Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Eyeshadow Palette, I was instantly drawn to the cool-toned combination of purple, golden, and ruby shades. Most other eyeshadow palettes I own are warm-toned but I was very excited to add these cool shadows into my collection!

The Packaging

My favourite aspect of this packaging is the gorgeous pale purple colour. It is whimsical and delightful. The palette itself is has this pale purple colour with the word ‘Norvina’ stamped in white lettering across the front. This palette contains 14 eyeshadow palettes and a dual-ended brush like its predecessors.

The Shadows

These shadows are buttery-soft, smooth, and apply without any fallout. Each shadow is pigmented. This palette contains a combination of shimmer, duo-chrome and matte shadows. The shimmer shadows are bright while the mattes are bold. Each shadow in the palette blends well without creasing.

The Shades

Each shade in the palette is versatile for daytime or nighttime wear. The shades within the Norvina palette include:

  • Dreamer – Metallic pink champagne
  • Base – Matte eggshell
  • Summer – Metallic golden
  • Soul – Matte wisteria
  • Wild Child – Duo-chrome frosty pink
  • Incense – Matte terracotta
  • Rose Gold – Metallic rosewood
  • Love – Matte cool-toned pink
  • Celestial – Duo-chrome plum with a violet shift
  • Volatile – Matte charcoal with a warm brown shift
  • Dazzling – Duo-chrome bronze
  • Eccentric – Matte burnt orange
  • Drama – Duo-chrome aubergine
  • Passion – Matte deep ruby

The Wear

These shadows remain bright and pigmented while wearing them. They do not fade or crease throughout the day, and I did not notice any fallout when applying each of these shadows! I love that I can create a variety of smoky, bright, or cool-toned eyeshadow looks with this palette. The addition of purple-toned eyeshadows gives the palette a unique colour combination.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina palette retails for $55 at Sephora.

Erin Angela’s Top 4 Eyeshadow Palettes

Hello, lovelies!

Eyeshadow is a staple in my makeup collection. There are certain palettes that I gravitate towards, and create versatile eyeshadow looks with them. Here is a peek into my top four favourite eyeshadow palettes!

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam

The Soft Glam Palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills is an essential palette for neutral, smoky eyeshadow looks. I wear this palette whenever I want to create a soft smoky eye. My favourite shades in this palette are ‘Rose Gold’ and ‘Cyprus Umber’.

2. Urban Decay Born to Run

This is one of the most used palette in my collection. The combination of neutral matte shades, glittery metallics and pops of colour make this a versatile palette for every type of eye makeup look. I wear this palette a few times per week.

3. Huda Beauty Obsessions

I love travelling with my Huda Beauty Obsessions Palette! Though the palette only contains 9 eyeshadows, the orange, brown and burgundy shades enables me to create a variety of looks. I used this palette for an entire week while on vacation last month, and achieved a variety of eyeshadow combinations!

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina

The Norvina Palette is a beautiful, cool-toned eyeshadow palette for the fall and winter seasons. I wear the mauve, lavender and shimmering shades for special occasions and daily events. I often pair the cool-toned shades with bright, bold lipstick shades.

About Me

3 Looks, 1 Palette: Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette

Hello, lovelies!

I bought the Norvina eyeshadow palette while placing my latest Sephora order, and decided to create three different eyeshadow looks with the palette, similar to the post I wrote featuring Urban Decay’s Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette. Here’s a breakdown of how I created each look!

Look #1

After applying eyeshadow primer, I buffed the shade Incense into my crease. This shade is a matte dusty terracotta that appears as a deep tan colour on the lid. I applied the shade Soul, a matte lilac to my entire lid. Next, I deepened my inner corner with another sweep of the shade Soul. To complete the look, I pressed the shade Drama across my entire lid. Drama is a duo-chrome aubergine. It appears as a beautiful eggplant-purple on the lid.

Look #2

First, I swept the shade Base across my entire lid. For my crease colours, I blended the shades Volatile and Incense together. I pressed the terracotta-red shade Passion into my outer corner. I added the shimmering gold shade Summer to my inner corner and blended it into the crease. Finally, I deepened the outer corner with another sweep of the shade Passion.

Look #3

I began this look by placing the shade ‘Love’ into my crease to use as a transition shade. This shade is a beautiful blush pink. Next, I picked up the shade Passion and blended it into my crease. I placed this shade slightly lower than the shade ‘Love’. Next, I buffed the shade ‘Dazzling’ across my entire lid. Finally, to add extra sparkly, I pressed the shade ‘Wild Child’ – a frosty pink – into the centre of my lid and blended it out.

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dream Glow Kit

Hello, lovelies!

I own numerous Glow Kits from Anastasia Beverly Hills, and knew I wanted to add the Dream Glow Kit to my collection when it launched earlier this summer. The palette features six iridescent, beautiful highlighters that are reminiscent of fairy dust. I’ve been testing this palette throughout the season, and today I’ll share my review!

The Packaging

The outside of the palette features a shiny silver cover that reflects a kaleidoscope of colour in the light. Like other glow kits from the brand, this one bears the Anastasia Beverly Hills logo and the word Dream in metallic lettering. It is lightweight and portable. Inside, the palette contains six large pans filled with the highlighter.

The Formula

I love the formula of the Dream Glow Kit! Each highlighter is buttery, pigmented, and smooth. Each highlighter contains a small amount of glitter, but it does not appear chunky or overly sparkly on the skin. On my skin, each highlighter has a slightly pink reflect.

The Shades

The Dream Glow Kit contains six iridescent highlighters in a range of buttery finishes. The shades included are:

  • Etheral – Cool-toned lavender duo-chrome with a blue sparkle
  • Sunshine – Gold with a lavender shift
  • Unicorn – Pink sparkle with a lavender undertone
  • Wish – Pearly silver
  • Regal – Peach with a combination of blue, pink, and gold sparkle
  • Magic – Cool silver with a cluster of red, blue, and pink sparkle

How to use it

I adore the versatility of this glow kit! I wear it as eyeshadow, highlighter, and a lipstick topper. It can be applied to the skin wet or dry. Simply dip your brush into the highlighter pan and sweep it across the skin to achieve a metallic glow. I enjoy wearing the shades as highlight and eyeshadow.

If you’re looking for an iridescent, beautiful highlighter I’d recommend trying Anastasia Beverly Hills Dream Glow Kit! The highlighter retails for $59 at Sephora.

August 2018 Sephora Haul

Hello, lovelies!

After receiving Sephora gift cards for my birthday earlier this month, I was excited to try some new products. I’ll share the items I ordered, and a little bit about my online ordering experience!

My Online Ordering Experience

This was the first time I’ve ordered products from Sephora’s website. To my delight, my ordering and shipping experience was quick and easy! I placed my order on a Sunday evening and my package arrived in the mail on Wednesday afternoon. I would definitely order online again.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Eyeshadow Palette

The main reason I placed a Sephora order was to purchase Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina eyeshadow palette. This palette is the newest in the brand’s collection, and it contains a beautiful combination of pastel, bold and shimmering shades. After two uses, I enjoy how pigmented and blendable the shadows are.

Tarte Hamptons Weekender Contour Palette

I don’t own any palettes that contains a blush, bronzer and highlighter. I decided to pick up the Hamptons Weekender Palette from Tarte, which is a blush, bronzer, and highlight palette. The pans are small but the products are quite pigmented. It will be an ideal product to travel with next month. I tested each shade in the palette yesterday and love it already.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

I love this cult-favourite setting powder from Laura Mercier! I ordered a travel-sized version of the translucent powder to try, and it effortlessly sets my makeup without leaving shine or residue. It feels silky and also brightens underneath my eyes.

Olehenriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer Sample

I’m quite excited to try this moisturizer from Olehenriksen! It’s a whipped, antioxidant-rich moisturizer that moisturizes, reduces dark spots and delivers radiance.

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask Sample

I’ve always wanted to try a mask from Caudalie. The Instant Detox Mask is clay-based to reduce oil and detoxify. I like rotating clay masks into my skincare routine and will fully review this mask soon!

Chloe Perfume Sample

This travel-sized perfume is from Chloe’s Nomad collection. It contains warm floral notes, and hints of freesia. The scent is soft and floral.

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Pink Matte Lipstick Set

Hello, lovelies!

I typically only wear liquid lipsticks from Anastasia Beverly Hills. However, when the brand announced release of new mini matte lipstick sets, I knew I had to try one! I bought the Pink Matte Lipstick set recently. The set of four mini lipsticks come in a variety of gorgeous pink and berry shades for summer.

The Packaging

Each lipstick is encased in a sleek bullet that features a black and metallic-gold design. The top of each bullet bears the Anastasia Beverly Hills logo. The lipsticks are lightweight, small, and travel-friendly.

The Shades

This set contains a beautiful combination of four pink shades:

Cotton Candy – Bubblegum pink

Orchid – Magenta with purple undertones

Plumeria – Deep plum

Stargazer – Bright hibiscus pink

The Wear

Before buying this set, I’d never tried a matte lipstick from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I was curious to compare the formula to the brand’s liquid lipsticks! The lipsticks glide smoothly onto the lips, and set to a matte finish that doesn’t feel drying. The formula wears for 4-5 hours without fading.

This lipstick set is a travel-friendly combination of summery colours. The size of each lipstick is small, but it is ideal for tossing into my purse each morning! Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Matte Lipstick Sets retail for $21 at Sephora. The set is also available in nude shades.

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer

Hello, lovelies!

I’ve recently begun wearing bronzer regularly, and it adds warmth and dimension to my skin. I bought Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer shortly after release and I’ve worn it all season to sculpt my face. This bronzer is the perfect matte formula to wear throughout the spring and summer seasons!

The Packaging

The sleek compact contains the bronzer and a mirror. It is slightly weighted, which gives the product a luxurious feel. The bronzer is pressed into the compact, which means there is no fallout when it is opened. Like all Anastasia Beverly Hills products, the outside of the compact bears the ‘Anastasia Beverly Hills’ logo.

The Formula

Anastasia Beverly Hils Powder Bronzer has a matte finish. The bronzer is finely-milled, and it does not have a tacky or chunky texture. It feels soft when applied to the skin and it blends easily. A little product goes a long way, and you only need to apply a small amount to achieve full-coverage.

The Shade

I rarely shop for bronzers because it is difficult to find a shade that is not too dark for my pale skin tone. However, the shade range of Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer is ideal for a variety of skin tones. I bought the shade Rich Amber, a neutral honey. On my skin, the shade is a mid-tone brown with honey undertones.

The bronzer is available in 6 shades:

  • Cappuccino – Deep golden-brown
  • Mahogany – Rich mocha
  • Rich Amber – Neutral honey
  • Rosewood – Light golden
  • Saddle – Golden amber
  • Tawny – Light terracotta brown

Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer is a perfect product to add a subtle dimension to the cheekbones and face. I use it for contouring and it pairs beautifully with blushes and highlights. Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer retails for $36 at Sephora.

About Me

Erin Angela’s Updated Makeup Routine for Spring and Summer

Hello, lovelies!

I like to update my makeup routine each season. I’m a little late transitioning into my spring makeup, but I’ve begun wearing softer colours and wearing more lightweight products. Today I’m sharing my updated makeup routine for the spring and summer seasons!

Face

I prepped my face with Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer to create a smooth base for my makeup. I applied Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation in the shade ‘Porcelain’ to add warmth to my skin. Next, I covered blemishes with NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Chantilly (this concealer has been my go-to for the past few years!). I applied bronzer along my hairline, and underneath my cheekbones. The bronzer I used for this look was Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer in the shade ”Rich Amber’. For my blush, I dusted Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush in the shade ‘Party’ across my cheeks. I completed my face makeup by applying Aurora Glow Kit as highlighter. I mixed the shades ”Lyra’ and ‘Orion’ together to create a unique combination.

Eyes

I love experimenting with bright, smoky, or glittery eyeshadow combinations. I kept my eyeshadow bright but subtle for this look using Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette. I started by blending the shades ‘Rustic’ and ‘Dusty Rose’ into my crease. I pressed ‘Sienna’ along my entire lid before adding a touch of glitter with the shade ‘Glistening’. I applied this shade to the inner half of my eyelid. I finished my eye makeup with Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara to add volume to my lashes.

Lips

I kept my lipstick soft and neutral. I applied the shade ‘Kiss’ from Anastasia Beverly Hills Nude Matte Lipstick Set. This shade is a soft nude with a peachy undertone.
