REVIEW: Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara

Hello, lovelies!

I adore trying new mascaras, but I must admit that once I find one that I love, I tend to repurchase it again and again. Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara is one of those products. The unique brush hooks and curls each lash for voluminous length.

The Packaging

This mascara comes in a fun and beautiful tube. The glossy black tube bears the Benefit Cosmetics logo and product name in pale pink cursive. It is lightweight and travel-friendly. The outside of the mascara wand is pale pink with a geometric design. The ‘Hook and Roll’ mascara wand is slightly curved and matches the pink colour of the outside cover.

The Mascara

This mascara gives my lashes curl and volume with a single swipe. It is not clumpy or sticky when applied, and each lash is easily coated. Initially, the formula feels watery-thin and damp but it dries completely matte after a few seconds. This mascara is long-lasting and pigmented.

The Shades

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara is available in Black or Brown. Both shades are pigmented and matte.

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara is a staple in my makeup kit. The lightweight formula gives lashes length, volume and pigmentation. This is my favourite mascara to wear on a daily basis and it performs well morning or night! This mascara retails for $33 at Sephora.

Get the Look with Erin Angela: A Soft Spring Makeup Tutorial That Is Achievable in Less Than 15 Minutes

Hello, lovelies!

Today I want to share a tutorial of a makeup look I featured on my Instagram last week.

After cleansing and moisturizing, I applied Benefit Cosmetics the Porefessional Face Primer to my imperfections. I used Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation as a base. I concealed with Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I apply this concealer to my t-zone and underneath my eyes, in a triangle. I completed my face with NARS blush on my cheekbones and Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit on the high points of my face to highlight. (143 on my cheekbone and bridge of nose.)

I started by shaping my eyebrows and filling them with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I primed my eyelids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I used my Modern Renaissance palette to perfect my eyeshadow: Vermeer all-over the lid, covered with a mix of Buon Fresco and Love Letter. I dotted Venetian Red on the centre of each lid. To finish my eye makeup, I applied Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Lancome mascara.

I swiped on a lip balm before applying Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Backstage Bambi.

The Best Highlighter Trends for Spring/Summer 2017: A Comprehensive Guide to This Beauty Trend

Hello, lovelies!

Highlighter entered the beauty world with a bang this year. Sephora introduced highlighting as their Trending at Sephora theme for the upcoming spring and summer season. New highlighter products and trends include a variety of finishes, glows, and textures. I’d like to introduce you to the types of glow you can achieve, and top products to help you get there!

What is Your Glow?

Three categories of highlighter products are Shimmer, Dewy, and Holographc:

  • SHIMMER: Shimmer products use pearlized pigments to create luminescence
  • DEWY: Reflective pigments add gloss for a radiant and luminous finish
  • HOLOGRAPHIC: This type of glow uses multicoloured pigments

Most products are available as a palette. Sephora also carries fluid highlight products that are liquid based.

REVIEW: Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer

Hello, lovelies!

Anybody who knows me will know that I’m Casper-pale, especially during the winter. I often brighten my complexion with highlight powder, blush, or bronzer. I received Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer as a Christmas present. I’ve used it regularly to enhance my complexion.

The Packaging

The bronzer is in compact-style package. One side of the container holds the bronzer palette. A small brush fits into the top side of the container. The package design features bamboo and a deep pink colour.

The Bronzer

The Hoola bronzer is available in a single colour. The product is matte, and pigmented. The pigmentation of the bronzer is strong. If you have paler skin, like me, I suggest blotting the brush on a tissue after dipping it into the container. This lets you build the colour, and tap off any excess. The colour is soft, and adds a bronzed, golden colour to the skin.

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer retails for $36 from Sephora.

REVIEW: Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow is a tinted eyebrow gel used to create fuller brows. This product came in a mascara set from my local drugstore. I bought the shade 02. My eyebrows are a lighter brown, so I wanted to test whether the product darkened my brows. The gel defined and added colour to my eyebrows, and it is a perfect addition to my eye makeup!

What it Does

Our cult-favorite gimme brow tinted eyebrow gel contains tiny microfibers that adhere to skin & hairs, creating natural-looking fullness and definition. The custom, tiny tapered brush blends easily while the precision tip shapes hairs into place.

The Packaging

The product comes in a tube with a brush attachment, like a mascara wand. My product is sample-sized, so the tube is shorter than normal. Pink lettering accentuates the chromatic colour of the tube. A tiny, tapered brush allows the product to dispense as needed. The brush style lets you build the colour as desired. It is ideal for thick and thin coverage.

The Product

The gel is non-greasy. It dries within seconds of application. Once dried, the product remains flexible. This product comes in a range of three shades:

  • 01 Light – Platinum to Light Blonde (Cool)
  • 02 Medium – Golden Brown to Medium Brown (Warm)
  • 03 Deep – Dark Brown to Black (Cool)

A quick note about the brush: As the wand is tiny, it is best to work with a light hand to ensure precision.

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel retails for $30 at Sephora. The product is also available at most drugstores!

Adore Me Collaboration || What’s Your Fall Look?

I write this post in collaboration with Adore Me. Adore Me is a New York-based company that sells affordable lingerie. This post features a peek into how I adapted my summer palette to accommodate Fall trends.

As the temperature drops, I adapt my makeup routine. Moisturizer becomes a staple in my makeup kit to combat harsh, drier weather. I often pair a subtle smoky eye with a bold lip. I wear black mascara year-round, but intensify it during the fall by applying an extra coat to my lashes. I swap bright lip colors in favour of berry, dark red, and mauve lipstick shades. I prefer lipsticks with a matte-finish during the fall and winter months. I exfoliate my lips more often to accommodate the matte finish.

REVIEW: Benefit Cosmetics the POREfessional Face Primer

The POREfessional is a primer that reduces the appearance of pores. It gives you smoother, softer skin. This product is suitable for use under or over makeup. Benefit Cosmetics released this primer as a balm. I bought this product after searching for a primer to wear under my makeup.

The Packaging

This primer comes in a travel-friendly package. The primer takes up little space in a makeup bag or purse. The tube-format allows control over the amount of product used.

The Primer

The product is non-greasy, and appears translucent when blended into the skin. Once applied to the skin, it blurs the appearance of imperfections. The balm dries to a matte finish.

The POREfessional face primer is a part of Benefit’s The POREfessional line. It is available in two formats: travel-sized and full-sized. The travel-sized primer retails for $13 (7 ml). The larger sized primer retails for $39 (1 o.z.)
