REVIEW: Tarte Pro Glow Highlight & Blush Palette

Hello, lovelies!

I adore Tarte blushes, bronzers, and highlighters. When the brand released their Pro Glow Highlight and Blush Set, I was eager to try out new shades of the beloved blushes and highlights. This product is travel-friendly, and a great addition to your makeup kit if you enjoy trying different blush, highlight and bronzer shades! I instantly loved that this travel-friendly kit gave me multiple options for shine and colour.

The Packaging

The outer packaging is gorgeous. The matte black cover features a colourful paint-like design and bears the Taste logo. I love that the palette has a magnetic closure, making it ideal for travelling. The palette is lightweight. Inside, the palette contains 6 pans of product that includes four blushes, a highlight, and a bronzer.

The Product

This palette features six highly pigmented, creamy products. The highlight shade, Hi-Fi, is a light-medium golden that is creamy and bright. It has a metallic finish with a thicker consistency that doesn’t emphasize texture on the skin. The bronzer shade, Solo, is a light-medium brown. It is semi-opaque but buildable. One aspect of the bronzer that I disliked was that it did not blend easily, and clung to imperfections in my skin. Below, I’ve included a description of each blush shade:

  • Electric is a gorgeous medium-dark pink with flecks of gold. It has light-to-medium coverage that is buildable. The golden flecks make it feel drier on the skin, but it is pigmented and long-lasting.
  • The second blush, Tempo, is a coral-pink. It feels creamy on the skin and is highly pigmented. The consistency feels similar to a cream blush.
  • Beat is a peachy coral with a luminous sheen.
  • Amp is a vivid, medium pink with a metallic sheen. This blush had a luminous glow when applied to the skin, and didn’t emphasize any texture in the skin. It is creamy yet lightweight.

The Wear

Each shade in the palette is long-lasting and pigmented. I’ve tested each blush, bronzer, and highlight shade during a full-day wear test. I love that none of the shades in the palette creased, faded, or smudged throughout the day! A little product goes a long way, and the smallest amount of product gives a luminous colour payoff!

Whether you’re new to Tarte products, or looking for a multi-tasking kit for your blush, bronzer and highlight needs, I’d recommend the Pro Glow Highlight and Blush Set. It retails for $59 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer

Hello, lovelies!

I’ve recently begun wearing bronzer regularly, and it adds warmth and dimension to my skin. I bought Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer shortly after release and I’ve worn it all season to sculpt my face. This bronzer is the perfect matte formula to wear throughout the spring and summer seasons!

The Packaging

The sleek compact contains the bronzer and a mirror. It is slightly weighted, which gives the product a luxurious feel. The bronzer is pressed into the compact, which means there is no fallout when it is opened. Like all Anastasia Beverly Hills products, the outside of the compact bears the ‘Anastasia Beverly Hills’ logo.

The Formula

Anastasia Beverly Hils Powder Bronzer has a matte finish. The bronzer is finely-milled, and it does not have a tacky or chunky texture. It feels soft when applied to the skin and it blends easily. A little product goes a long way, and you only need to apply a small amount to achieve full-coverage.

The Shade

I rarely shop for bronzers because it is difficult to find a shade that is not too dark for my pale skin tone. However, the shade range of Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer is ideal for a variety of skin tones. I bought the shade Rich Amber, a neutral honey. On my skin, the shade is a mid-tone brown with honey undertones.

The bronzer is available in 6 shades:

  • Cappuccino – Deep golden-brown
  • Mahogany – Rich mocha
  • Rich Amber – Neutral honey
  • Rosewood – Light golden
  • Saddle – Golden amber
  • Tawny – Light terracotta brown

Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer is a perfect product to add a subtle dimension to the cheekbones and face. I use it for contouring and it pairs beautifully with blushes and highlights. Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer retails for $36 at Sephora.

A Quick Guide to 3 Popular Makeup Trends for Summer 2017

Hello, lovelies!

Makeup trends traditionally leaned toward bronzed skin, coral lips, and gold eyelids. The common trends this season are beginning to change. For summer 2017,  pastels and graphic cool tones are popular. Each colour trend is versatile. The colours are perfect to wear subtly or enhanced.

White eyeliner

Coloured eyeliner makes the eyes pop. The colour white gives the eye a crisp, fun look. White eyeliner is versatile to wear with coloured eyeshadow or your favourite earthy shades. Sephora offers various white liners. My favourites include: Sephora Collection Colourful Wink-It Felt Liner and Nars Velvet Eyeliner

Sunset Eye

Summer is encapsulated in this trend. A sunset eye features warm hues reminiscent of a summer night sky. This trend is bold but wearable by toning down makeup on the rest of the face. To achieve a sunset eye, mix warm shades like red, burnt orange, and yellow.

Holographic Makeup

This trend is inspired by shine and metallics. Core colours used to create this makeup look include silver, pink, blue and lilac. Holographic makeup is reminiscent of princess sparkle and prisms. This hue is featured in highlighter, eyeshadow and eyeliner. My top holographic picks from Sephora include: Kat Von D Alchemist Palette and Milk Makeup Holographic Stick

Which summer trend are you wearing this season? If you’re wearing a trend I did not mention, let me know about it in the comments!

REVIEW: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer

Hello, lovelies!

I recieved a sample of Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer at Sephora a few weeks ago. This bronzer is a product that combines natural cocoa with the company’s signature bronzing pigments. It smells chocolately and delivers a soft, bronzy glow.

The Packaging

This bronzer is pressed in a small black compact with Too Faced embossed on the cover. It is a slim compact that does not include a mirror. The compact also features a texturized, dotted design around the edges. When you open the cover, the delightful chocolate scent emerges.

The Finish

Because of the drier finish, the bronzer gives the skin a matte finish. It isn’t creamy or soft, but it gives the skin a light bronzy glow.

How to Use It

I apply it with an angled blush brush to softly blend it into my skin without dispensing a lot of product. I blend it into my temples, underneath my cheekbones, and the edges of my chin to contour. I use this bronzer when I wish to achieve a lightly bronzed look. In comparison to Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer, this one is not as intensely pigmented.

This bronzer is perfect for giving the skin a pop of colour without overpowering the natural skin tone.

Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzer retails for $38 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer

Hello, lovelies!

Anybody who knows me will know that I’m Casper-pale, especially during the winter. I often brighten my complexion with highlight powder, blush, or bronzer. I received Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer as a Christmas present. I’ve used it regularly to enhance my complexion.

The Packaging

The bronzer is in compact-style package. One side of the container holds the bronzer palette. A small brush fits into the top side of the container. The package design features bamboo and a deep pink colour.

The Bronzer

The Hoola bronzer is available in a single colour. The product is matte, and pigmented. The pigmentation of the bronzer is strong. If you have paler skin, like me, I suggest blotting the brush on a tissue after dipping it into the container. This lets you build the colour, and tap off any excess. The colour is soft, and adds a bronzed, golden colour to the skin.

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer retails for $36 from Sephora.
