3 Surprising Reasons Why Your Skin Keeps Breaking Out

Hello, lovelies!

We all know the importance of maintaining a skincare routine, but what happens when your skin still breaks out despite the care you give it? For all of you who suffer from acne and blemishes, I empathize with you because I continue to experience regular breakouts! Before you toss your beloved skincare products, check in with yourself! The causes of your breakouts may not be what you imagined. Here are four surprising reasons why your skin continues to breakout:

You don’t change your pillowcase regularly

Just like your cell phone, your pillowcase can contain bacteria that causes breakouts. Even if you wash your face every night before bed, the natural oils from your hair and skin can accumulate on your pillowcase. Once they build up over time, they lead to breakouts. Pillowcases should be changed or washed weekly to keep them clean.

You skip moisturizing

It took me a long time to realize that moisturizer is actually good for my acne-prone skin. It is easy to assume that too much oil causes breakouts, but this actually is not true. Excessively cleansing the skin removes natural oils, causing rebound dryness that can further irritate acne. Applying moisturizer reintroduces natural oil back into the skin and balances it.

You never clean your makeup brushes

When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? It is important to clean all your beauty tools at least once a week to prevent makeup, oil, and bacteria from causing breakouts. If you don’t have a fancy makeup brush cleaner, a small amount of water and soap will do the trick!

4 Simple Productivity Tips for Busy People

Hello, lovelies!

It can seem tough to complete every task on an endless to-do list. There may never be enough hours in the day to complete everything, but with a few simple tips, it is easy to increase your productivity.

1. Complete the least desirable task first

Starting your day by completing the task you dread the most will encourage you to complete it faster so you can move on to more enjoyable tasks. Completing the hardest, least-desirable tasks first will make your day better.

2. Create a daily ‘to-do’ list

love creating daily lists of tasks. A daily list enables you to visualize the tasks you must complete throughout the day. Also, it is a helpful tool to prioritize each of those tasks. Are some tasks urgent? Does it have to be completed by the end of day, or end of the week? A ‘to-do’ list provides you with a framework of what must get completed on a daily or weekly basis.

3. Stay positive, and take breaks

A positive outlook will help you stay on track. Working hard is easier when you are happy and positive. One way to increase your positivity is to take regular breaks throughout the day – breaks help you refocus.

4. Schedule everything

My planner is attached to my hip, and I believe that if something doesn’t get scheduled, it does not get done. Scheduling every appointment I have or task to complete helps me stay productive and on-time.

Do you have any time-management tips? If so, leave a comment below, I’d love to hear about them!

3 Brands of Rose Wine That You Need to Try Right Now

Hello, lovelies!

June 10 was National Rose Day. Anyone who knows me will know that I am an avid wine drinker. This will be a short and sweet blog post, as I’ve been suffering from seasonal allergies since Friday! To commemorate National Rose Day, I’m sharing my favourite types of rose. *clink!*

Barefoot Bubbly

Barefoot Bubbly wine is technically a white wine, but the wine has a bright pink hue. Sparkling wines are crisp. The brand’s White Zinfandel wine is my go-to. I enjoy light, refreshening wine flavours. This bottle contains notes of strawberry and peach. The addition of a bubbly texture gives the wine a crisp, delightful taste. I choose this wine most often due to its light taste (and the bubbles, of course!)

Yellowtail

Yellowtail Wine hails from Australia. This wine is prominent during my family’s holiday celebrations, especially Christmas and Easter. Pink Bubbles (I love that name!) is another sparkling wine, but it contains more carbonation. The flavour of this wine is bright. This Yellowtail carries strawberry tasting notes with hints of lemon.

Jacob’s Creek Moscato Rose

This type of wine is a delicious mix between Rose and Moscato.  Jacob’s Creek Moscato Rose  is a true summer beverage – tasting notes include fresh summer berries. This wine is created “frizzante” style, meaning it is gently sparkling.

What is your favourite type of wine?

3 Simple Tips to Upgrade Your Morning Coffee

Hello, lovelies!

I always seeking new ways to upgrade my morning coffee, and recently upgraded my Keurig to a machine that creates lattes. Whether you have a Keurig or a regular coffee maker at home, today I’m sharing three tips I use to upgrade my morning coffee!

Make your own latte

If you’re craving a latte, but don’t have a coffee maker that makes them for you, it’s easy to make them yourself! Pour a small amount of milk into a jar and seal the lid. Vigorously shake the jar to foam the milk. Microwave the jar for a few seconds before pouring it into your mug to stabilize the foam, and viola, you have an instant latte!

Reduce the bitterness in coffee

This is my favourite trick to reduce any bitterness in my coffee. Add a sprinkle of salt to your mug before pouring your coffee to balance the flavour. Your coffee will taste smoother and it’ll cut down on any bitter taste present in the coffee beans.

Brew beyond basic

Introducing ice into your coffee cup is a perfect trick to create a DIY iced latte. Brew a cup of coffee and add ice cubes. After the coffee brews, stir it to melt the ice fully. Carefully pour your beverage into ice cube trays and freeze to create coffee-flavoured ice cubes. Melt these ice cubes with your favourite coffee or add it into your mug for a delightful iced coffee!

3 Key Tips for Aspiring Beauty and Lifestyle Bloggers

Hello, lovelies!

I always enjoy sharing tips and advice with new beauty and lifestyle bloggers. When I began blogging over three years ago, I didn’t quite realize how much I would learn and grow as I continued to craft my blog. There are many pieces of advice I could give a new blogger, but here are my favourite tips. Whether you are a new or seasoned blogger, I hope you find these tips helpful!

1. Find your niche

There are many beauty and lifestyle blogs on the web. Finding a specific niche for your blog will help you find your writing voice and set your blog apart from the rest. If there is a specific topic within the broad spectrum of beauty and lifestyle that you are passionate about, make that your blog’s focal point. For example, I like to focus on writing a weekly beauty product review, and publishing weekly tips.

2. Plan ahead to sustain your blog

Pre-planning post ideas is the main way that I sustain my blog. It’s a good idea to have a plan of how you will maintain your blog, types of content you’ll post, and a posting schedule. Planning ahead and writing focused content will also help you curate a consistent readership among your blog’s audience.

3. Focus on writing great content instead of the numbers

This can be tough to remember as a new blogger. Every blogger dreams of having content read and shared by hundreds of people, but developing great content will keep readers coming back to your blog each week.

3 Reasons Why You Should Start Listening to Podcasts and My Top Recommendations

Hello, lovelies!

I recently began listening to podcasts and it’s truly been a life-changing experience. With a range of topics and hosts, podcasts offer a window into education, information, and passion. I’ll highlight a few of the podcasts I’ve listened to lately below, but here are my top three reasons why you should start listening to podcasts!

Reason 2 – Find a Creative Outlet: I enjoy listening to podcasts while I blog for the entertainment value and to spark my creativity. Listening to podcasts is a way to enhance your creativity and explore new ideas.

Reason 3 – Optimize Your Time: Listening to a podcast during your daily commute or while you’re waiting for something is a great way to pass time. Listening to podcasts while engaging in other activities will help your day, commute, or daily tasks fly by!

3 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Blogging

Hello, lovelies!

Blogging takes time and effort. I’ve learned a few lessons since I began my blog, and have compiled a breakdown of some of things I wish I’d known when I started my blog that I will share with you.

Maintaining social media can be tiring

It takes time and work to maintain various social media accounts. As I write this post, I mentally note that I’ve barely opened my Instagram app in days. I sometimes feel pressure to consistently post on my blog and social media, but it is a good idea to take a break from posting. Consistently posting and preparing content can feel draining and it’s important to acknowledge that it’s okay if you don’t have posts prepared for every day of the week!

Be passionate

Writing about topics that you are passionate about will majorly benefit your blog. If you aren’t passionate about your niche and ideas, you’ll find it difficult to make it as a blogger.

Joining social media groups in your niche will be helpful

I’ve joined multiple Facebook and Twitter groups related to beauty and lifestyle topics since I began my blog. These groups are beneficial for multiple reasons. First, it’s wonderful to have a place where other bloggers share the same ‘language’ as you do. I also adore these groups when I’m stuck for inspiration. Finding new bloggers or content to read is an excellent source of inspiration when you encounter writer’s block.
