3 Reasons Why Nobody Is Reading Your Blog

Hello, lovelies!

For a new blogger, one of the toughest aspects is getting people to read your content. You may be putting in great efforts to grow your audience, but it may not seem like your blog is growing. Here are three reasons why nobody is reading your blog and how to fix them!

Reason #1: Your inconsistent

Consistency is key for blogging. If you write one or two great posts then go silent for weeks, it will be difficult to maintain a dedicated audience. In order to grow your audience, you must post consistently. For me, posting new content three times per week has helped me grow my audience.

Reason #2: Your blog does not have a focus

When I began my blog, I knew that I wanted to write beauty and lifestyle content. Creating posts with focused, specific content will help you establish a target audience. If your readers cannot relate to your content, it will be more difficult to retain readership.

Reason #3: You’re not using social media

Social media is a key tool for bloggers. Blogging is a social activity, and establishing a social media presence will help your blog grow. Having a social media presence will help you meet and engage with your audience. Creating meaningful connections will drive readers back to your blog and help you form relationships with readers.

About Me

Meet the Millennial Blogger: How and Why I’ve Grown to View Beauty, Strength, and Positivity in My Physical Disability

Hello, lovelies!

Find beauty, strength, and positivity in everything.

If you have followed my blog for a while, you’ll remember that I shared this story a while back. I explored the idea of expanding upon this post, and share my story with the hope that it will let you get to know me a little better. I write this post to inspire, heal, and recover.

Behind the Blogger

If you’ve read my blog for a while, I welcome you back to Glitter and Mojitos. If you are new, welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here! My name is Erin Angela. I’m a blogger from Canada. I have a physical disability, called Cerebral Palsy (CP, for short). This diagnosis came at birth, where I was given little hope of walking, talking, or succeeding in life. Despite the odds, I have survived and am currently studying social work.

On Beauty

Beauty is more than skin deep. Inner beauty radiates and shines. My disability gifted me with both negative and positive views of beauty. Once I entered my teenage years, my surgical scars and imperfections were a source of displeasure. It took time to accept the scars that mark my body like a roadmap.I slowlygrew to love them. I gained true appreciation for them. On the other end of the beauty spectrum, I learned to recognize beauty in the most unlikely of places. I learned to recognize my inner beauty. I learned to recognize my uniqueness.

On Strength

When faced with a challenge or setback, I thrive. Despite difficult recovery periods, I bounced back twice as strong. It is sometimes difficult to find strength within yourself. My strength has served as a way to cope and thrive with my disability.

On Positivity

A positive outlook is essential for living with a disability. I’ve always held a happy-go-lucy, positive attitude. I view my disability as positive: Without a disability, I would not be pursuing a social work career. I would not have encountered many incredible experiences throughout my lifetime. Developing a positive attitude is not easy, though. I became determined to focus on the positive aspects of my disability.

3 Things You Should Never Do To Your Skin

Hello, lovelies!

Your skin is with you for life. If there’s one thing you should do, it is to treat your skin with care and respect. We know there are certain ways to care for the skin, but most of the time, we just bypass them regardless. Here are three things you should never do if you want your skin to love you back.

Over-exfoliating

Exfoliating 1-2 times per week is great – it refreshes your skin and removes any dead skin cells that may be causing breakouts or dullness in the skin. Over-exfoliating can cause scratching on the skin’s surface which leaves it prone to environmental toxins and breakouts.

Not protecting your skin

Sunscreen is a vital skincare product. You probably know that you’re supposed to wear sunscreen daily, but have you ever considered why? The sun is responsible for how your skin ages, and wearing sunblock daily not only prevents aging, but it also protects against dark spots.

Using the same products for a long time

You may have found the best moisturizer or cleanser ever, but your skin will eventually change and adapt to any active ingredients in the product. Over time, this causes the product to become less effective. It’s important to know your skin type and how it reacts to different products. If your beloved cleanser or moisturizer is no longer working, it’s time to reevaluate the products you use.

3 Confessions of a Blogger

Hello, lovelies!

I enjoy blogging. Since I began my blog, I’ve been able to share my creativity, experience new things, and I’ve even been occasionally noticed by beauty brands. Despite the positive aspects of blogging, there are often secrets that bloggers keep to themselves. Today I’m sharing a few ‘secrets’ that I’ve unearthed as a blogger.

It is not all sunshine and rainbows

Blogging takes a lot of work and effort. Creating new content regularly then promoting said content is time-consuming and it requires a lot of attention to detail. In addition to this, becoming a blogger will not guarantee that you’ll gain instant recognition and sponsorship from brands, which is a common misconception.

We, too, suffer from blogger brain

I constantly think about writing. If I’m not thinking about content for my next post, I’m checking my WordPress dashboard for new content, engaging with blogger groups on social media, or updating my social media feeds. Sometimes this can feel overwhelming and it’s not uncommon for your brain to feel ‘zapped’ from this cycle.

Support is a wonderful thing

We love when a new post is liked or shared, it makes everything we do as bloggers worth it! From my own experience, I read every single comment that is posted on my blog posts and feel grateful for each like I receive. Support from other bloggers or readers is a powerful thing, and it means a lot.

3 Simple Tips to Upgrade Your Morning Coffee

Hello, lovelies!

I love coffee. I’m always seeking new ways to upgrade my morning coffee, and recently upgraded my Keurig to a machine that creates lattes. Whether you have a Keurig or a regular coffee maker at home, today Im sharing three tips I use to upgrade my morning coffee!

Make your own latte

If you’re craving a latte, but don’t have a coffee maker that makes them for you, it’s easy to make them yourself! Pour a small amount of milk into a jar and seal the lid. Vigorously shake the jar to foam the milk. Microwave the jar for a few seconds before pouring it into your mug to stabilize the foam, and viola, you have an instant latte!

Reduce the bitterness in coffee

This is my favourite trick to reduce any bitterness in my coffee. Add a sprinkle of salt to your mug before pouring your coffee to balance the flavour. Your coffee will taste smoother and it’ll cut down on any bitter taste present in the coffee beans.

Brew beyond basic

Introducing ice into your coffee cup is a perfect trick to create a DIY iced latte. Brew a cup of coffee and add ice cubes. After the coffee brews, stir it to melt the ice fully. Carefully pour your beverage into ice cube trays and freeze to create coffee-flavoured ice cubes. Melt these ice cubes with your favourite coffee or add it into your mug for a delightful iced coffee!

3 Travel-Friendly Beauty Tips You Need to Know

Hello, lovelies!

While preparing for your next vacation, one major consideration you should keep in mind is how your beauty routine may change while you are away from home. Whether you’re flying, laying on a beach, or exploring a new city there are a few key tips you can incorporate into your beauty routine to keep your hair, skin and makeup in top shape!

Go for carry-on friendly products

My skin tends to break out if I modify my skincare routine. One way to maintain your skincare routine during travel while minimizing space is to pack products that are travel-sized. I love cleanser sticks or other products that are not water-based because they are easy to stash in my carry-on luggage!

Drink extra water

Aircraft cabins are pressurized in a way that reduces the humidity onboard the plane. I like to drink extra water during my flights to ensure that I stay hydrated. This tip also works for your skin – if your skin becomes dehydrated during a flight, make sure to apply additional moisturizer.

Always stash your makeup in your carry-on luggage

I like to stash my makeup in my carry-on luggage. I’m able to touch-up between flights and I won’t have to worry about my products becoming lost or broken during the flight. I stick to products that are non-liquids so that they can easily store in my carry-on without fuss!

3 Key Tips to Care For Acne-Prone Skin

Hello, lovelies!

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to skincare. It can take years, and countless routines, to determine what works best for your skin. I revisit a few key tips to maintain clear, acne-free skin that I’m thrilled to share with you!

Wash your face daily

First and foremost, washing your face daily is essential to achieve clear skin. Cleansing and treating your skin daily is the best way to banish breakouts. If your regular skincare routine won’t suffice, makeup remover wipes work in a pinch!

Choose the right cleanser for your skin type

To get the most out of your cleanser, select a cleanser that is suited for your skin type. If your skin is oily, choose products that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to cleanse. For sensitive skin, look for cleansers with hydrating ingredients that won’t dry out your complexion.

Don’t over-exfoliate

This is the biggest tip that I use to care for my skin. Scrubbing your skin with grainy cleansers can harm your skin instead of clear it. I often notice that over-exfoliating my skin causes redness, inflammation and scarring. If you wish to exfoliate your skin, it should be done once a week.
