REVIEW: GlamGlow WaterBurst Moisturizer

Hello, lovelies!

GlamGlow is one of my favourite skincare brands. I’ve tried various masks from the brand, but decided to try the WaterBurst Moisturizer while buying new skincare products last month. After a few uses, this lightweight water cream became my daily moisturizer.

The Packaging

The packaging of this moisturizer is fun and colourful. The product comes in a jar that features a beautiful teal-blue. The jar bears the GlamGlow logo and a description of the moisturizer. The jar feels heavy, compared to how lightweight the moisturizer is.

The Moisturizer

I love the colour, smell, and feel of this moisturizer. When I opened the jar, the first things I noticed were the smell and colour of the moisturizer. The moisturizer has a pleasant, fruity smell – similar to blue raspberry candy! It has a gorgeous light blue colour that is reminiscent of the candy-like scent.

The Texture

GlamGlow’s Waterburst Moisturizer feels silky to the touch. When applied to the skin, it absorbs quickly without feeling sticky. It hydrates and locks-in moisture. When I wear this moisturizer underneath makeup, my primer and foundation applies smoother!

GlamGlow’s Waterburst Moisturizer is a great skincare product to hydrate the skin and effectively moisturize. It retails for $62 at Sephora.

I Swapped My Moisturizer for Maracuja Oil for A Week

Hello, lovelies!

I recently received a sample of Tarte Cosmetics Maracuja Oil with purchase at Sephora. Maracuja oil is derived from the maracuja fruit, and contains vitamin C and essential fatty acids to moisturize and heal acne-prone skin. I decided to replace my usual moisturizer with maracuja oil for a week to find out how it would react with my dry, acne-prone skin.

How I used the maracuja oil

I applied the maracuja oil each morning after cleansing my skin. Instead of applying my usual moisturizer, I let a few drops of maracuja oil dry into my skin. I applied the oil for seven days without using other moisturizing products in my skincare routine to determine the performance of the product.

The Results

After testing Tarte’s Maracuja Oil, I have mixed feelings. The oil felt soft and smooth on my skin. On days when the weather was warmer, the oil left a slight sheen on my skin – it absorbed, but not fully. About halfway through my moisturizer switch I noticed that my skin began to breakout. My skin is typically acne-prone, and while maracuja oil is helpful to heal acne, I believe that it added too much oil to my skin. Overall, if you have dry skin, I would recommend trying maracuja oil. For those of you with dry, acne-prone skin I would recommend testing the oil for 1-2 days to observe whether the oil may contribute to further breakouts. While I was excited to try an oil in my skincare routine, this challenge did not agree with my skin.

3 Mistakes You Didn’t Know You Were Making With Moisturizer

Hello, lovelies!

Moisturizing is one skincare step that is easy to follow. However, there are many ways that you can go wrong when using this product. An incorrectly chosen formula and careless application can lead to breakouts, sagging skin, and dullness. Here are three steps you didn’t know you were making – and how to fix them!

Mistake #1: Pulling on the skin

Vigorously rubbing moisturizer into the skin can wreak havoc on your complexion. Pulling on the skin in a downward motion can contribute to premature wrinkles. To prevent this, apply your moisturizer in upward, circular motions. Gently tap moisturizer into your eye area to prevent redness or wrinkles.

Mistake #2: You don’t apply moisturizer regularly

It seems logical to stop applying moisturizer once your skin is hydrated, right? Wrong! If your skin is already dry, it’s likely that there’s a layer of dead skin on the surface that will make it harder for the product to reach your skin’s moisture barrier. Aim to moisturize 1-2 times per day (depending on your skin type) to maintain supple skin.

Mistake #3: You don’t switch your moisturizer

I’m guilty of using the same moisturizer year-round. The fact is, the same moisturizer you use in the summertime may not be hydrating enough in the winter months. The effectiveness of your moisturizer can plateau if your skin becomes used to the ingredients, if the weather changes drastically, or if your skin type changes. It’s important to switch moisturizers with different active ingredients to maintain effectiveness. I apply a cream-based, thicker moisturizer in the winter months, but switch to a light, water-based formula in the summertime.

Erin Angela’s Lastest Sephora Haul

Hello, lovelies!

I recently placed Sephora order to drain the remainder of the gift cards I’d received during Christmas. I replenished a few skincare products, tried new makeup products, and added a few surprises to this haul.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

I finally tried this iconic product from Anastasia Beverly Hills! I bought a Brow Wiz, which is a brow pencil and spoolie combination that grooms brows and fills them in. My brows are a light brown colour, and I wanted to find a darker pencil shade to give them depth and dimension. I love that this pencil is travel-friendly and pigmented.

GlamGlow Water Burst Hydrating Moisturizer

I’ve relied on this moisturizer since June of last year, and my skin has remained soft and hydrated. This moisturizer is lightweight and doesn’t irritate my skin. It takes me ages to finish a skincare product, and I was actually excited to reach the bottom of this jar! This lightweight, fruity-scented moisturizer has a gel-cream consistency.

Caudalie Vinosource Serum

My skin becomes incredibly dry during the winter months. I moisturize after I cleanse each morning, but quickly noticed that my skin felt dry and tight. I picked up Caudalie’s Vinosource Serum upon recommendation, and the lightweight serum treats dehydration in my skin. After one use, my skin instantly felt more hydrated and plump. I apply this serum each morning and my skin is silky and fresh.

REVIEW: MAC Cosmetics Strobe Cream

Hello, lovelies!

I recently received a sample of M.A.C. Cosmetics Strobe Cream with my MAC Haul. I was excited to try a liquid moisturizer that adds luminosity to the skin. I have used this product as a liquid highlighter, and would compare it to the formula of other liquid highlighters I’ve tried!

The Packaging

This product comes in a pearl-coloured tube with a black top. The outside of the tube features the M.A.C. logo. I like that is lightweight and travel-friendly. The packaging colour is reminiscent of the cream contained inside it.

The Product

The cream has a holographic sheen, but it is not glittery. I’ve noticed that the shade ‘Silverlite’ has a slight purple undertone to it, and reflects as a pearly-purple shade when applied to the skin. The cream feels soft and dewy, and it is surprisingly moisturizing when applied. I like that the cream doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and the sheen stays vibrant throughout the day.

I own the shade Silverlite. M.A.C. Strobe Cream is available in four shades:

Silverlite – Silver pearls

Goldlite – Gold pearls

Peachlite – Peachy pearls

Redlite – Red pearls

How to use it

I adore the versatility of this cream! It can be applied directly to the skin, or mixed with foundation to intensify your skin’s glow. I’ve tried applying it with both a brush and my fingertips, and it applies better with my fingertips.

MAC Strobe Cream is a perfect product to add a subtle shine or highlight to any makeup look! It retails for $40 from MAC Cosmetics official website.
