I love coffee. I’m always seeking new ways to upgrade my morning coffee, and recently upgraded my Keurig to a machine that creates lattes. Whether you have a Keurig or a regular coffee maker at home, today Im sharing three tips I use to upgrade my morning coffee!
Make your own latte
If you’re craving a latte, but don’t have a coffee maker that makes them for you, it’s easy to make them yourself! Pour a small amount of milk into a jar and seal the lid. Vigorously shake the jar to foam the milk. Microwave the jar for a few seconds before pouring it into your mug to stabilize the foam, and viola, you have an instant latte!
Reduce the bitterness in coffee
This is my favourite trick to reduce any bitterness in my coffee. Add a sprinkle of salt to your mug before pouring your coffee to balance the flavour. Your coffee will taste smoother and it’ll cut down on any bitter taste present in the coffee beans.
Brew beyond basic
Introducing ice into your coffee cup is a perfect trick to create a DIY iced latte. Brew a cup of coffee and add ice cubes. After the coffee brews, stir it to melt the ice fully. Carefully pour your beverage into ice cube trays and freeze to create coffee-flavoured ice cubes. Melt these ice cubes with your favourite coffee or add it into your mug for a delightful iced coffee!
If you suffer from acne, it can seem impossible to control. I’ve had acne-prone skin for ages and have tried various methods of combatting my combination skin. I’ve tried various tricks but here are the top three tips I use to combat acne-prone skin!
Avoid over-drying your skin
Many products meant to combat acne are over-drying, and this can trigger oil production. To ensure your skin retains moisture it is best to avoid alcohol-based products and moisturize immediately after cleansing.
Clean your makeup brushes
Cleaning makeup brushes regularly is an essential step if you have acne-prone skin. Makeup brushes can harbour dirt and bacteria which may exacerbate breakouts. Brushes should be washed once a week with a gentle brush cleanser or shampoo.
Examine your haircare products
Until recently, I had no idea that my haircare products were contributing to frequent breakouts on my forehead, cheeks and neck. Check the list on your shampoo or other haircare products for aggravating ingredients and adjust your routine accordingly to reduce breakouts.
We all have mornings where there’s simply no time to complete a full makeup routine. On these types of mornings, I simplify my makeup routine. This simplified routine still feels polished, but takes less than five minutes to complete!
I apply moisturizer every morning, regardless of how rushed I may be. Moisturizer gives my skin a boost of hydration and brightens my complexion. The main moisturizer in my routine is GlamGlow’s WaterBurst Moisturizer – it is lightweight and leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I complete my face makeup with a few swipes of concealer. The concealer I love right now is Tarte’s Creaseless Concealer.
A simple winged eyeliner does wonders to widen and brighten my eyes. I apply Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner because it is waterproof and lasts all day. I then apply two coats of mascara to lengthen my lashes.
Lipstick is a staple in my daily makeup routine. On days when I am wearing minimal makeup, I apply a brightly coloured shade. Two shades that I wear regularly are Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Sarafine, a gorgeous deep red.
Do you suffer from dry, chapped lips during winter months? I find myself constantly reapplying lip balm and sugar scrubs to maintain soft, supple lips. Here are the top tips I use to keep my lips soft in colder weather!
Choose the right lip balm
Not all lip balms are created equally. Some lip balms contain ingredients like menthol and camphor which can actually dry the lips further. If you’re looking for a balm that adds extra moisture to the lips, ensure that it contains ingredients like aloe, coconut oil, and shea butter.
Buff away flakiness with a sugar scrub
You should use extra care when exfoliating your lips. If you want to eliminate extra dryness and flakiness, use a sugar scrub. Sugar crystals will gently exfoliate the lips without drying them.
Resist the urge to lick dry lips
This may seem counterintuitive, but licking dry lips may actually cause them to become further aggravated. Instead of naturally moistening the lips, try applying a moisturizing balm or mask to introduce extra moisture.
Protect your lips
It’s important to take steps to avoid dry lips in the first place. During cold winter months, try sealing moisture into your lips with a balm or lip mask. One of my favourite ways to protect my lips during the winter is by wearing a warm scarf over my mouth to prevent dryness.
If you’ve followed my blog or Instagram for a while, it’s no secret that I am a little obsessed with coffee. I drink 1-3 cups per day and am always experimenting with my coffee maker to try new flavours, save money, and rejuvenate my daily coffee-drinking experience. If you love coffee, here are three tips to help you save money on your daily cup!
1. Make your own iced coffee
This trick is a great method of creating DIY iced coffee. Freeze coffee into an ice cube tray to create coffee ice cubes. Pour hot coffee over the ice cubes to create a quick iced coffee that won’t become watered down.
2. Order a cup of black coffee
Ordering a cup of hot, black coffee is one of the main ways I save money at Starbucks. A cup of black coffee has the most caffeine and it costs less than fancier coffee drinks. I usually buy a grande (medium) black coffee from Starbucks at a cost of $2.82 and a total of 360 mg of caffeine.
3. Buy a special mug
Using a special mug every morning will reduce the urge to buy a cup of coffee from the store every day. By using this special mug at home, you’ll save money in the long-run plus you’ll get more use from your at-home coffee machine.

GlamGlow is one of my favourite skincare brands. I’ve tried various masks from the brand, but decided to try the WaterBurst Moisturizer while buying new skincare products last month. After a few uses, this lightweight water cream became my daily moisturizer.
The packaging of this moisturizer is fun and colourful. The product comes in a jar that features a beautiful teal-blue. The jar bears the GlamGlow logo and a description of the moisturizer. The jar feels heavy, compared to how lightweight the moisturizer is.
I love the colour, smell, and feel of this moisturizer. When I opened the jar, the first things I noticed were the smell and colour of the moisturizer. The moisturizer has a pleasant, fruity smell – similar to blue raspberry candy! It has a gorgeous light blue colour that is reminiscent of the candy-like scent.
GlamGlow’s Waterburst Moisturizer feels silky to the touch. When applied to the skin, it absorbs quickly without feeling sticky. It hydrates and locks-in moisture. When I wear this moisturizer underneath makeup, my primer and foundation applies smoother!
GlamGlow’s Waterburst Moisturizer is a great skincare product to hydrate the skin and effectively moisturize. It retails for $62 at Sephora.
How you start each day is a predictor of how the rest of it will unfold. I implement specific activities into my morning to ensure that I maximize my productivity. Here are three activities that I suggest doing to maximize your productivity in the morning:
1. Write a to-do list
I often create a to-do list when I start my work day, or my weekend. Writing out a list of the items you must accomplish each day is a great method to stay organized. I like to keep this list on my desk, or another highly visible place.
2. Drink coffee
My family usually jokes that I take my coffee through an IV. I always start my morning with a cup of coffee, and it has become an anticipated part of my morning. Both the caffeine, and the routine, help ensure I’m completely ready for the day ahead.
3. Organize my workspace
Whether I’m blogging or working, I take a few minutes to organize my desk. Organizing my workspace each day helps clear my mind before I start my work. This trick is very helpful when I spend an evening blogging.
