Makeup Tutorial: Holiday Glam

Hello, lovelies!

The holiday season is a perfect time to experiment with bright, bold and glittery makeup. This year I plan to incorporate reds, glitter, and champagne colors into my makeup palette. I recently created one of my favorite looks for this blog post. I’ll share the steps I used to create it below!

FACE

I prepped my skin with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer to create a smooth canvas. For my foundation, I applied Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation to my entire face. I used the shade Warm Ivory. I covered any blemishes on my skin with concealer. For this look, I used NARS Cosmetics Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Chantilly. This concealer provides full coverage with a small amount of product. I finish my face makeup with blush and highlight. I applied the shades Sugar and Rose from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pink Passion Blush Trio to my cheeks. Finally, I apply a highlight shade. For this look I used Luna from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Aurora Glow Kit.

EYES

I used a light concealer to prep my eyes for eyeshadow. To create this cranberry eyeshadow, I selected shades from the Hua Beauty Desert Dusk Palette. This palette features a combination of glitter and warm-toned shadows. I applied the following shadows to create this look:

  • Musk – Base shadow applied to entire lid
  • Saffron + Oud – Shadows applied to crease
  • Concealer – Applied to entire lid to prep for glitter shadow
  • Cosmo – Pure glitter applied to entire lid

To complete my eye makeup, I applied Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara.

LIPS

I paired my cranberry-inspired eyeshadow with a deep, matte red lipstick. The lipstick I selected for this look is MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in the shade Diva.

REVIEW: NARS Audacious Mascara

Hello, lovelies!

I search for a new mascara every 3-6 months, as they tend to dry out. I’ve only tried NARS blush before. I decided to test another product from the NARS collection.

The Packaging

NARS Audacious Mascara is in a sleek black tube. The attached mascara wand has wide, separated bristles. These bristles reduce the chance of mascara clumping. Each bristle is rubber, and they feel pointy compared to softer bristles.

The Mascara

I bought this mascara in black – my standard colour. I adore the wear of this mascara. It does not flake or clump on my lashes. NARS Audacious Mascara makes it easy to enhance your eye makeup with two coats. I used this mascara as eyeliner last week and it held upsurprisingly  well on my lashline.

NARS Audacious Mascara retails for $26. The mascara is available in the colour Black Moon

Hello, lovelies!

Today I want to share a tutorial of a makeup look I featured on my Instagram last week.

FACE

After cleansing and moisturizing, I applied Benefit Cosmetics the Porefessional Face Primer to my imperfections. I used Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation as a base. I concealed with Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I apply this concealer to my t-zone and underneath my eyes, in a triangle. I completed my face with NARS blush on my cheekbones and Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit on the high points of my face to highlight. (143 on my cheekbone and bridge of nose.)

EYES

I started by shaping my eyebrows and filling them with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I primed my eyelids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I used my Modern Renaissance palette to perfect my eyeshadow: Vermeer all-over the lid, covered with a mix of Buon Fresco and Love Letter. I dotted Venetian Red on the centre of each lid. To finish my eye makeup, I applied Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Lancome mascara.

LIPS

I swiped on a lip balm before applying Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Backstage Bambi.

REVIEW: Nars Blush

Hello, lovelies!

During the winter months, I am Casper-pale. I began wearing blushes and highlighting products within the past year to brighten my complexion. As I don’t wear blush often, I searched for a shade that was soft and subtle. Nars blushes offer just that!

The Packaging

All NARS products are in sleek, black packaging. The blush is in a compact. One side of the compact contains the blush pan, and the other features a small mirror.

The Product

The blush is smooth and non-flaking. It is a shimmer finish, meaning that the colour is sheer and radiant. The shade I own, Orgasm, is peachy-pink with a golden shimmer undertone.

Below is a swatch of the blush:

NARS blushes offer subtle colour for the cheeks. The blush is available in 30 shades. It retails from Sephora for $30.

REVIEW: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

Hello, lovelies!

I searched for a creamy concealer with a wand applicator. After testing it in store, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer offered just that. The conceler offers full-coverage to blur imperfections. After one use, I noticed brightening and concealing effects. I have not noticed these effects with other, more watery concealers I’ve used.

The Packaging

All NARS products are packaged in a sophisticated, matte black box. The concealer is in a clear tube. This allows you to view the product colour. I prefer concealers with doe-foot applicators. A doe-foot applicator creates precision.

The Concealer

True to it’s name, the concealer is thick and creamy. Applying a small amount of product to the face covers a wide area. I apply three dots to my undereye area, and it covers completely!

This is one of the most effective concealers I’ve tried. I use it to conceal imperfections and brighten. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer comes in 10 shades:

  • Biscuit – Medium-dark, with a balance of pink and yellow undertones
  • Chantilly – True ivory
  • Vanilla – Tiny cast of pink
  • Creme Brulee – Fair, with a light pink undertone
  • Cannelle – Light, with a peachy undertone
  • Honey – Warm peach tone
  • Custard – Yellow tone
  • Macadamia – Medium, with a peachy undertone
  • Ginger – Golden undertone
  • Caramel – Medium-dark yellow with golden undertones
  • Chestnut – Medium, with a pink undertone
  • Amande – Medium-dark, with golden olive undertones
  • Hazelnut – Medium-dark, with a warm red undertone
  • Cafe – Dark, with warm red undertone
  • Cacoa – Dark, with deep gold-brown undertones
  • Dark Coffee – Dark brown with a golden undertone

I own the shade Chantilly. Below is a swatch of the shade:

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is smooth, creamy and blendable. The applicator allows for careful application. After a single use, it became my most beloved concealer. It retails at Sephora for $29.
