I recently received a sample of M.A.C. Cosmetics Strobe Cream with my MAC Haul. I was excited to try a liquid moisturizer that adds luminosity to the skin. I have used this product as a liquid highlighter, and would compare it to the formula of other liquid highlighters I’ve tried!
This product comes in a pearl-coloured tube with a black top. The outside of the tube features the M.A.C. logo. I like that is lightweight and travel-friendly. The packaging colour is reminiscent of the cream contained inside it.
The cream has a holographic sheen, but it is not glittery. I’ve noticed that the shade ‘Silverlite’ has a slight purple undertone to it, and reflects as a pearly-purple shade when applied to the skin. The cream feels soft and dewy, and it is surprisingly moisturizing when applied. I like that the cream doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and the sheen stays vibrant throughout the day.
I own the shade Silverlite. M.A.C. Strobe Cream is available in four shades:
Silverlite – Silver pearls
Goldlite – Gold pearls
Peachlite – Peachy pearls
Redlite – Red pearls
How to use it
I adore the versatility of this cream! It can be applied directly to the skin, or mixed with foundation to intensify your skin’s glow. I’ve tried applying it with both a brush and my fingertips, and it applies better with my fingertips.
MAC Strobe Cream is a perfect product to add a subtle shine or highlight to any makeup look! It retails for $40 from MAC Cosmetics official website.
GlamGlow is one of my favourite skincare brands. I’ve tried various masks from the brand, but decided to try the WaterBurst Moisturizer while buying new skincare products last month. After a few uses, this lightweight water cream became my daily moisturizer.
The packaging of this moisturizer is fun and colourful. The product comes in a jar that features a beautiful teal-blue. The jar bears the GlamGlow logo and a description of the moisturizer. The jar feels heavy, compared to how lightweight the moisturizer is.
I love the colour, smell, and feel of this moisturizer. When I opened the jar, the first things I noticed were the smell and colour of the moisturizer. The moisturizer has a pleasant, fruity smell – similar to blue raspberry candy! It has a gorgeous light blue colour that is reminiscent of the candy-like scent.
GlamGlow’s Waterburst Moisturizer feels silky to the touch. When applied to the skin, it absorbs quickly without feeling sticky. It hydrates and locks-in moisture. When I wear this moisturizer underneath makeup, my primer and foundation applies smoother!
GlamGlow’s Waterburst Moisturizer is a great skincare product to hydrate the skin and effectively moisturize. It retails for $62 at Sephora.
I typically only wear liquid eyeliner, but tested Sephora Collection’s Contour Eye Pencil after receiving a sample. This eye pencil is waterproof and delivers intense pigment.
I love that this eye pencil is lightweight. I can easily travel with it, however the cap does not snap closed so I’d suggest being careful when placing this product in your purse! The pencil itself is carbon-black and features the ‘Sephora Collection’ logo. It is sleek, and the product colour is visible.
The formula is silky and resistant to water and heat. It does not feel chalky when applied to my eyelid, and the pencil glides smoothly. Unlike a liquid eyeliner, this one dries instantly. I have not tested the product on my lower lash line, but I was impressed with the 4-5 hour wear time this one gave me when applied to my upper lash line!
Sephora Collection’s Contour Eye Pencil comes in a range of 25 shades. I own the shade “01 – Black Lace” which is a beautiful matte black. Each pencil retails for $10 at Sephora.
I wear a lot of lipstick. As a result, my lips consistently feel dry and chapped. I decided to try Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask. I have not tried a lip mask before this one, but this one delivers intensive moisture!
The mask is contained in a triangular, slate-grey tube. It is sleek and sophisticated, bearing the ‘Bite Beauty’ logo on the outside. I like that this packaging is lightweight. The tube has a small nozzle to dispense the mask.
The mask itself is dense and thick, with a slightly grainy texture. Because of the thick texture, I find that the mask creates a transparent film on my lips that effectively locks-in moisture. The mask has a pleasant honey scent with hints of vanilla. To my surprise, the mask feels lightweight when applied to my lips.
How to use it
Squeeze a small amount of the mask onto the tip of your finger and apply to the lips.
Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask is available in 5 colours:
- Lavender – Pale pink
- Maple – Sheer bronze
- Champagne – Rose gold pearl
- Smashed – Sheer candy-apple red
- Natural – Clear
I own the shade Natural. If you are looking for a hydrating, quick lip mask I’d recommend Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask. It retails for $30 at Sephora.
I often try new mascara brands, and I was excited to receive a sample of Urban Decay’s Troublemaker Mascara. This product is a gorgeous, lengthening mascara.
The mascara comes in a unique, geometric tube. It is lightweight, and a kaleidoscope of color. The mascara wand contained inside features soft, rounded bristles.
I adore this mascara! The bristles are thin, making it easy to apply the product to my lashes. This mascara applies well, but I must note that it tends to flake after multiple hours of wear. I’ve noticed that it lasts longer if I apply a primer before, and this adds extra volume to my lashes. One of my favourite aspects of the mascara is that it is easy to remove at the end of the day.
Urban Decay’s Troublemaker Mascara is a fun, unique product. It is the main mascara I use, and it is a great everyday product. This mascara retails for $24 at Sephora.
I’ve recently begun wearing bronzer regularly, and it adds warmth and dimension to my skin. I bought Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer shortly after release and I’ve worn it all season to sculpt my face. This bronzer is the perfect matte formula to wear throughout the spring and summer seasons!
The sleek compact contains the bronzer and a mirror. It is slightly weighted, which gives the product a luxurious feel. The bronzer is pressed into the compact, which means there is no fallout when it is opened. Like all Anastasia Beverly Hills products, the outside of the compact bears the ‘Anastasia Beverly Hills’ logo.
Anastasia Beverly Hils Powder Bronzer has a matte finish. The bronzer is finely-milled, and it does not have a tacky or chunky texture. It feels soft when applied to the skin and it blends easily. A little product goes a long way, and you only need to apply a small amount to achieve full-coverage.
I rarely shop for bronzers because it is difficult to find a shade that is not too dark for my pale skin tone. However, the shade range of Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer is ideal for a variety of skin tones. I bought the shade Rich Amber, a neutral honey. On my skin, the shade is a mid-tone brown with honey undertones.
The bronzer is available in 6 shades:
- Cappuccino – Deep golden-brown
- Mahogany – Rich mocha
- Rich Amber – Neutral honey
- Rosewood – Light golden
- Saddle – Golden amber
- Tawny – Light terracotta brown
Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer is a perfect product to add a subtle dimension to the cheekbones and face. I use it for contouring and it pairs beautifully with blushes and highlights. Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer retails for $36 at Sephora.
I recently received a sample of BareMinerals Statement Matte Liquid Lipstick from Sephora. This lipstick is a long-wearing, comfortable liquid lipstick. I typically do not buy lipstick from brands such as BareMinerals or Dior, so I was quite excited to test this liquid lipstick from BareMinerals!
This lipstick comes in a squared tube with a black top. The tube itself is lightweight, and bears the colour of the lipstick held inside. Similar to most liquid lipsticks, this one has a doe-foot applicator to apply lip colour evenly. The tube bears the ‘BareMinerals’ logo and it looks sleek and sophisticated.
This lipstick dries matte, and feels very comfortable on the lips. I wear the lipstick for 4-5 hours throughout the day and it does not flake or smudge.
I instantly loved the colour. The sample I received was in the shade ‘Fire’, a gorgeous orange-red. The colour appears as a bright, vibrant red with orange undertones when applied to the lips.
This lipstick is available in a range of 9 shades, including:
- Luxe – Dirty pastel pink
- Fire – Bright orange-red
- VIP – Crimson
- Naughty – Oxblood-red
- Juicy – Brick red
- Shameless – Hot pink
- OMG – Magenta
- Flawless – Muted plum
- Devious – Burgundy with a lilac undertone
BareMinerals Statement Matte Liquid Lipstick is a long-wearing, comfortable formula. I adore the colour selection and it offers shades that are versatile for day or night. This lipstick retails for $19 at Sephora.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation is an alternative to traditional, bottled foundation formulas. I use this foundation daily in my makeup routine and it provides buildable, crease-free coverage. I adore this foundation when traveling because the product is a lightweight stick that is shaped like a lipstick bullet.
I love how sleek and sophisticated the packaging is. The foundation itself is encased in a tube that is shaped like lipstick. It is lightweight and features a twistable end. The tube has a glossy, black finish and bears the ‘Anastasia Beverly Hills’ logo.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation has a unique cream formula that dries matte but appears natural on the skin. It is highly pigmented. When you first begin to use a new foundation stick, it feels cakey and does not blend well. However, once you use the product a few times, the formula glides onto the skin and blends with little effort. The foundation covers my blemishes and does not accentuate any dry patches on my skin.
How to use it
I’ve tested this foundation with both a brush and a BeautyBlender. Achieving even coverage is easier with a brush. To use Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation, apply the product directly to the skin and blend it out with a brush. I often hydrate my skin before applying this foundation to ensure the foundation blends well.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation is a convenient, creamy alternative to traditional foundation formulas. It is ideal for travel, and allows you to create both a natural or matte skin finish. The product is available in 30 shades. The shade I own is called ‘Porcelain’ – for fair skin with cool undertones. Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation retails for $33 at Sephora.
Dry shampoo is my lifesaver on mornings when I just don’t have time to wash and dry my hair. John Frieda’s Volumizing Dry Shampoo is one that I’ve used for a long time. Using this dry shampoo is a quick way to remove excess oil from my hair while creating volume.
I adore how compact and lightweight the aerosol canister is. I can easily transport the product in a purse or overnight bag. Because the product is a spray, the canister contains a nozzle to dispense the shampoo. The canister features teal and black color blocks, with the John Frieda logo displayed on the front.
How to use it?
Shake well before use. Lift hair in sections then spray the product into hair in short, quick bursts. Use your fingertips to blend the fine powder into your hair.
Why I love it
My hair is naturally thick. I find that this dry shampoo eliminates excess oil from my hair the best, plus it gives my hair extra volume when I curl it! I also like the small canister size. This size makes it easy to travel with, for touch-ups when I am running errands. Compared to other dry shampoos, John Freida’s does not leave white residue in my hair, nor does it have a talc-like smell.
John Freida’s Volumizing Dry Shampoo is a great product if you want to try a dry shampoo that is easy to use, provides extra volume, and leaves no residue. This dry shampoo can be found in most drugstoresWalmart, or beauty retailers for $6.72.
Desert Dusk is the second palette released by blogger Huda Kattan. I bought this palette a while back, and it’s been a perfect palette to create casual, glittery, or smoky eyeshadow looks. I love this palette for its combination of warm-toned shadows, and it’s versatile for day or night.
The packaging of this palette is stunning. It is sophisticated, colorful and sleek. The outside of the palette contains a graphic of Huda Kattan’s eyes, along with the name of the palette. Upon opening the palette, you will find the eyeshadows and a large mirror. The palette is lightweight and easy to travel with.
Each shadow blends easily, and there is no fallout from any of the shadows when I dip a brush into them. However, the shade Cosmo is a pure glitter – I noticed some fallout when I applied the shadow to my lids without using a glitter glue first. I often wear the eyeshadows for 8-10 hours, and the colors do not crease or fade. I apply the matte shades using a shadow brush, but often apply the shimmer, duo-chrome and glitter shades with my finger for a maximum color payoff.
Desert Dusk contains 18 shadows. The shadow selection is a combination of matte, pearl, duo-chrome and glitter textures.
- Desert Sand – Matte pale cream
- Musk – Matte sandy light brown
- Eden – Matte pale peach
- Amber – Matte red
- Blood Moon – Pearl crimson
- Oud – Matte rust red
- Celestial – Duo-chrome orange with gold reflect
- Nefertiti – Gold shimmer
- Twilight – Lavender duo-chrome with pink reflect
- Amythest – Matte purple
- Royal – Purple shimmer with pink undertones
- Retrograde – Duo-chrome silver with pink reflect
- Cashmere – Pale gold shimmer
- Angelic – Pale peach shimmer
- Cosmo – Pure red glitter

Huda Beauty’s Desert Dusk Palette is versatile, eye-catching and sophisticated. It offers a combination of shadow finishes to create an array of eye looks. The palette retails for $85 at Sephora.
