REVIEW: Too Faced Replenishing Primer and Setting Spray

Hello, lovelies!

I recently ran out of my beloved Mac Fix+ setting spray, and searched for an alternative to use until I can restock it. I decided to try Too Faced 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray and it has been a perfect multi-purpose product to prime and set my makeup.

The Packaging

I adore how lightweight, and travel-friendly, this product is. It comes in a bottle with a nozzle to dispense the product onto the skin, meaning it is mess-free. The packaging is bubble-gum pink and bears the Too Faced logo – it is bright and fun.

What is it?

This multipurpose product is a weightless, coconut-infused water mist that primes, sets, and refreshes makeup while hydrating the skin. Because it is infused with coconut, it has a light coconut scent.

The Benefits

This product performs as both a primer and setting spray. The spray has three benefits:

Primes the skin for makeup

Sets makeup

Refreshes makeup when used during the day

How to use it

This product works similarly to my MAC Fix+ Setting Spray. Shake the product well then hold the bottle 6-8 inches away from your face. Mist the product onto your skin and let it dry. To use it as a primer, apply it to the skin before makeup. To set makeup, apply it after you’ve finished your makeup. It can also be misted onto the skin anytime throughout the day for an instant refresh.

I use this product as both a primer and setting spray. It leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed, while holding my makeup in place all day! It is a great primer/setting spray combination to use without leaving the skin feeling oily or overly dry. Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray retails for $40 at Sephora.

Sephora VIB Sale Haul: Spring Edition

Hello, lovelies!

Sephora’s spring VIB sale took place from April 20-23 for members. During the sale, VIB members received 15% off all purchases, and this was a perfect opportunity for me to stock up on skincare and makeup I recently ran out of! Here’s what I picked up during the sale:

1) Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil – This cleansing oil has become my regular makeup remover. I had a few sample-sized bottles of the oil, but purchased a full-sized bottle after realizing just how often I use it! It is a gentle, effective cleanser to remove my makeup daily and lightly refresh my skin.

2) Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Primer/Setting Spray – I put a sample of Too Faced Hangover Primer in my cart after my beloved MAC Fix+ ran out. The first thing I noticed about this primer after trying it last week was the coconut scent. I like that this product acts as a primer or setting spray. I tested it as both my primer and setting spray yesterday, and it refreshed my skin while holding my makeup in place all day!

3) Bite Beauty Lip Pencil – I apply lip pencil every day. I own two shades of the lip pencil from Bite Beauty (020 + 044). The shade 020 is a beige-nude that is an excellent color to apply underneath any lipstick. I repurchased another pencil in that shade to replace the one I used up. (Plus, I love how easy it is to toss these lip pencils into my purse for touch-ups!)

4) Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick – Bend and Snap – This Too Faced lipstick purchase was an impulse-buy. I own tubes of this formula in a deep, mahogany red and a subtle lavender. One shade I do not have in my lipstick collection is a bright magenta. The shade ‘Bend and Snap’ is that exact match. The formula is lightweight and non-drying on my lips.

5) Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Bronzer – Finally, I bought a powder bronzer from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I did not have a bronzer in my collection after misplacing my favorite Too Faced compact. The bronzer from Anastasia Beverly Hills is finely-milled and provides matte coverage. I bought the shade Rich Amber, a gorgeous honey-toned color.

6) Living Proof Restore Conditioner – I received a sample of conditioner from the brand Living Proof. This conditioner renews softness and shine to damaged hair. I’ve tried the conditioner once, and my hair felt softer, bouncier and smooth.

REVIEW: Too Faced Under the Kissletoe Liquid Lipstick Set

Hello, lovelies!

During the Sephora V.I.B. Sale I picked up a new mini lipstick set from Too Faced Cosmetics. This collection features 4 liquid lipsticks, each sampling the brand’s different formulas. I’ve only tried the Melted Matte formula, so I was excited to test other formulas in the lipstick collection!

The Packaging

This set is part of Too Faced Cosmetics Holiday 2017 Collection. The four lipsticks are encased in sparkly, pink plastic. Each lipstick shade is visible through a small panel in the outer case. This is a fun package that reminds me of Christmastime. The Melted Matte and Melted formulas each have different types of tubes, so I will discuss both of them: The Melted Matte lipstick come in a clear glass tube that displays the lipstick colour within. It has a doe foot applicator to comfortably coat the lips with colour. Each Melted lipstick comes in a triangular tube with a soft applicator that is attached to the tube. Both applicators are soft and coat the lips evenly.

The Colours

love the diverse shade choices in this collection. The selection of nude, deep red, and pink shades make it easy coordinate the colours to my outfits. The four shades included in the set are:

  • Chihuahua -Dusty mauve
  • Chocolate Honey – Light brown-nude
  •  Hopeless Romantic – Nude with a hint of pink
  •  Drop Dead Red – Deep mulberry-wine

The Wear

Both the shades Chihuahua and Chocolate Honey are satin finishes. They do not wear for a long time on the lips, but they are soft, smooth, and non-drying. The shade Drop Dead Red dries into the lips with a burst of colour. (As a note, I wrote this shade last week and it left my lips with a muted red undertone. It stayed on my lips for about 7-8 hours). The shade Hopeless Romantic wears for 4-5 hours without fading.

This is a fun lipstick set to gift someone as a stocking stuffer. If you are interested in trying a selection of Too Faced lipsticks, I also recommend this set!

Too Faced Under the Kissletoe liquid lipstick set retails for $32 at Sephora.

My Sephora VIB Haul: Winter Edition

Hello, lovelies!

It all started when my dog, Bear, ate my favourite blush compact. I glanced at the email advertising the Sephora V.I.B. Sale but did not take particular notice to it because I had nothing to buy. The following morning, my beloved NARS blush fell to the floor and was quickly destroyed. Bear ate the compact’s contents before I cleaned them up. Off to Sephora I headed.

My main purchase was a new blush, but I did select additional items while I browsed. Here is a peek into my VIB Sale Haul:

Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio

This blush compact features 3 gorgeous pink-toned colours. My biggest concern when buying blush is finding colours that compliment my pale skin. The three shades in this compact deliver delicate pink tones. I normally skip very pink blush colours, but I decided to try them with this compact. The compact I bought the compact called Pool Party. This collection offers a mixture of coral, bright pink, and tan shades.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation

Finding a product that doubles as a concealer and foundation is a dream come true. This foundation is formatted as a stick, which makes it easy to apply to the face. I wore it as my foundation and concealer yesterday and it delivered a comfortable, full-coverage finish. It dried matte but not cakey on my skin. I bought this foundation in the shade Porcelain. This shade is suited for fair skin with cool undertones.

Too Faced Under the Kissletoe Liquified Lipstick Set

I was not initially a fan of Too Faced Liquid Lipstick formula. That being said, I decided to test out a few different formulas in the range. The Under the Kissletoe set is part of their holiday collection. The colours in the set range from a deep burgundy to a glossy nude. This fun set contains 4 lipsticks:

  • Melted Liquid Lipstick in the shade Chihauhua – Dusty mauve
  • Melted Lipstick in the shade Chocolate Honey – Warm-toned nude with brown undertones
  • Melted Latex Lipstick in the shade Hopeless Romantic – Glossy beige-nude
  • Melted Matte Lipstick in the shade Drop Dead Red – Matte burgundy

REVIEW: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer

Hello, lovelies!

I recieved a sample of Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer at Sephora a few weeks ago. This bronzer is a product that combines natural cocoa with the company’s signature bronzing pigments. It smells chocolately and delivers a soft, bronzy glow.

The Packaging

This bronzer is pressed in a small black compact with Too Faced embossed on the cover. It is a slim compact that does not include a mirror. The compact also features a texturized, dotted design around the edges. When you open the cover, the delightful chocolate scent emerges.

The Finish

Because of the drier finish, the bronzer gives the skin a matte finish. It isn’t creamy or soft, but it gives the skin a light bronzy glow.

How to Use It

I apply it with an angled blush brush to softly blend it into my skin without dispensing a lot of product. I blend it into my temples, underneath my cheekbones, and the edges of my chin to contour. I use this bronzer when I wish to achieve a lightly bronzed look. In comparison to Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer, this one is not as intensely pigmented.

This bronzer is perfect for giving the skin a pop of colour without overpowering the natural skin tone.

Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzer retails for $38 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette

Hello, lovelies!

I began the hunt for a new eyeshadow palette a few months ago. My main requirement for a new palette was that it consisted of a wider colour selection. I found that in Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bon Palette. This is the third chocolate-inspired eyeshadow palette to join the Too Faced collection.

The Packaging

The cotton-candy pink case caught my eye immediately. It features heart-shaped sections, remiscent of the shadows contained inside. The case has a magnetic closure.

The Eyeshadow

Each shade is pigmented and soft. Depending on the brush you use, the shimmer shades are require a little more blending than the others. This palette contains a mix of matte and shimmer shades. The 16 eyeshadows are named after sugary candy confectionaries:

  • Almond Truffle – Matte mauve-toned taupe
  • Satin Sheets – Pearly white with a pale yellow undertone
  • Sprinkles – Pale pink with a gold shimmer
  • Molasses Chip – Metallic bronze
  • Malted – Matte brown
  • Cashew Chew – Satin light beige
  • Cotton Candy – Bright pink with a cool undertone
  • Cafe au Lait – Taupe grey shimmer
  • Bordeaux – Rust-red
  • Mocha – Warm matte brown
  • Black Currant – Shimmery purple
  • Dark Truffle – Earth-brown with shimmer
  • Pecan Praline – Matte light grey
  • Totally Fetch – Hot pink shimmer
  • Earl Grey – Teal shimmer
  • Divinity – Matte ivory

I adore the colour selection in this palette. The chocolaty scent of the shadows is a great bonus. The palette comes with an insert containing instructions to create three eye looks. This is useful for creating looks with the stronger colours in the palette. If you enjoy a wide colour selection, this is the perfect palette for it!

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bon palette retails for $49 at Sephora. It retails for $59 in Canada.

Have you tried this palette? What are your thoughts?

REVIEW: Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Hello, lovelies!

Eyeshadow primer helps shadow remain crease-free once on the lid. My eyeshadow tends to flake when I blink. Before buying this product,  I often substituted concealer for primer. I bought Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer during Sephora’s VIB sale. This product is a mess-free alternative to using concealer as primer.

The Packaging

This primer comes in a squeeze tube with a nozzle on the end. It is lightweight, and durable for travel. The print on the package is simplistic and elegant. You should shake the tube before dispensing the product, as it tends to separate.

The Primer

Too Faced Shadow Insurance is beige, with a non-greasy formula.  It blends into the lid to create a blank slate for shadow application.  The best method for use is to blend it into the lid with your fingertip. Using primer increases the longevity and vibrance of the eyeshadow colours I use. A tiny dot of product covers my entire lid.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance retails for $24 at Sephora.

5 Festive Lipsticks

At the beginning of December my lipstick choices change to suit the holiday season. I favor bold reds, subtle nudes, and wines. I decided to sort through my collection to share the top five lipstick shades.

1. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira

A deep reddish burgundy compliments any outfit. I searched for this specific shade of red, and found it in Vampira. This is the darkest shade of red I own. I’m interested to pair it with my typical glittery, gold holiday eye makeup. (I’ll test this in the meantime!) Liquid lipsticks are a mainstay in my makeup bag. I adore the longevity of the formula, and count on it to last me through holiday parties.

2. M.A.C. Lipstick – By Special Order

I add one pink lipstick to my holiday makeup each year. A reddish-pink shade balances out the darker reds and wines. By Special Order is a deep reddened fuchsia. The subtle pink undertones add a pop of bright colour to the accessories I wear during the season. (Tons of glitter and gold!)

3. Too Faced Melted Matte in Queen B

This is a surprise addition to my list. Queen B is a mauve shade, so you may be curious about why I include it. The colour is soft but still stands out. I often wear this lipstick with my Naked Smoky or Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palettes. The shade pairs well with the palettes. I reach for these palettes most often into the holiday season.

4. TARTE Tartiest Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Manbun

MANBUN s a dark berry. The shade is perfect to achieve a deep berry, almost brown lipstick look. It appeared darker on me the first time I wore it, but I soon began to warm up to the shade. (Stay tuned for a complete review!)

5. Sephora Collection Rouge Creme Lipstick in R02

This shade is my go-to red lip. I wear it often during the holiday season.  Deep red tones make it ideal to create a darkened, wine-coloured red. A bonus aspect of this lipstick is the creme finish – it doesn’t dry my lips, but stays in place for hours!

Below is a photo of each shade. From top to bottom: Vampira, By Special Order, Queen B, Manbun and RO2.

Have you tried any of these shades? What is your go-to holiday lipstick colour?

REVIEW: Too Faced Melted Matte liquid lipstick

I picked up this lipstick while in Montreal earlier this month. Surprisingly, this is the first TOO FACED cosmetic I bought. This was an impulse buy – while browsing in Sephora, I decided to try a new colour. And try, I did. I bought the colour Queen B; a lilac-mauve.

The Packaging

This lipstick is packaged in a box bearing the same colour as the product. As with other Too Faced products, the gold script on the package is eye-catching and vibrant.

The Colour

Queen B is a soft mauve. The colour is intense, but not too bright. Before I bought this lipstick, I hesitated. I put a swatch of the colour on my arm in store, and liked the shade. This softer shade of mauve is ideal to give the lips a pop of subtle colour.

The Wear

This liquid lipstick dries quick. To achieve a darker shade, the colour can be applied twice. The formula is a little drying on the lips, but this is resolved by applying a lip balm underneath. Queen B wears comfortably for 6-8 hours without fading.

Below is a swatch of Queen B:

Though this liquid lipstick dries my lips more than other formulas, it is richly pigmented and applies smoothly in one swipe. The colour payoff is excellent. Though this colour is different from anything I’ve worn before, it is eye-catching and beautiful.

Too Faced Melted Matte liquid lipstick is available in 17 shades. It is available in-store or from Sephora’s official website for $25. This lipstick retails on Too Faced Cosmetics official website for $29.
