REVIEW: Urban Decay Primer Potion

Hello, lovelies!

I feel like I’m the last makeup enthusiast on the planet to try the cult-classic Primer Potion from Urban Decay. I switched the brand of primer I use on a whim last month, and I have not looked back. This product truly lives up to its claim of indestructible eyeshadow that lasts all day!

The Packaging

The primer comes in a sleek and lightweight tube. The tube bears the Urban Decay logo and has a pale purple, golden, or copper colour depending on the type of primer that you purchase. The cap features a long, flat applicator that is soft and bendable to coat the entire eyelid with product. I love that this product is travel-friendly and easy to use.

The Formula

I adore this formula! It is silky-smooth, dries quickly, and brings out my eyeshadow’s true pigment. Urban Decay’s primer is formulated with polymer technology that preps the eyelids for all-day wear and covers imperfections.

The Wear

My eyeshadow is brighter, pigmented, and long-lasting after I apply it on top of this primer. Eyeshadow does not fade or crease throughout the day. I’ve tested this eyeshadow primer while wearing both powder and cream formulas, and it has enhanced the wear of my eyeshadow with ease!

The Shades

Recently, Urban Decay released new varieties of the primer. It is now available in four varieties:

  • Original
  • Sin – Subtle pale nude shimmer
  • Eden – Matte nude
  • Caffeine – Rich warm brown matte

Urban Decay’s cult-classic Eyeshadow Primer Potion is a staple in my makeup kit. It effortlessly extends the wear of my eyeshadow for a crease-free look. Each tube of Urban Decay’s Primer Potion retails for $32 at Sephora.

Erin Angela’s Latest Sephora Sale Haul

Hello, lovelies!

Sephora held its annual summer bonus sale this month. I’ve been on a no-buy from Sephora lately, but the sale was a perfect opportunity to restock some of my makeup and skincare essentials. It’s been a while since I’ve created new blog posts and I am thrilled to share my Sephora sale picks with you!

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Urban Decay’s Primer Potion is a cult-classic eyeshadow primer  in the makeup world. Would you be shocked to know that I’ve never tried this primer before? I’ve emptied tubes upon tubes of Too Faced Shadow Insurance but decided to switch to Urban Decay’s Primer Potion after my last tube dried out. This primer is a 24-hour-wear, nude primer that extends the life of eyeshadow without causing creasing. I am excited to compare this primer to my usual primers – stay tuned for a full review!

GlamGlow WaterBurst Moisturizer

I habitually repurchase the Waterburst Moisturizer from GlamGlow, and this product is a staple in my skincare routine. This lightweight moisturizer is ideal for my dry, acne-prone skin as it gives my skin moisture without leaving it feeling greasy. This weightless water cream moisturizer absorbs into my skin instantly and leaves it feeling soft, plump and primed for makeup.

Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray

This product was another repurchase for me. I’ve used Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Setting Spray  to set my makeup for the past few years and it is a holy-grail makeup product for me. I spritz this lightweight mist onto my face after I apply makeup, and it locks everything in place for hours. I put this setting spray to the test during my last Florida vacation, and my makeup remained flawless in 40 degree weather and sunshine!

Erin Angela’s January 2019 Sephora Haul

Hello, lovelies!

Last month I received a few gift cards from Sephora. I’ve been eyeing more eyeshadow products from Tarte and that prompted me to place an online order. After testing all the products in my order, I’m excited to share this haul with you!

Tarte Mermaid Shine Metallic Sea Glass Eyeshadow Set

Once this eyeshadow set arrived in the mail, I swatched it immediately. The set of four eyeshadows has a unique liquid-to-powder formula that feels divine on the eyes! Each shade is sparkly and pigmented.

Milk Makeup Matcha Detoxifying Face Mask

I decided to try a new face mask and added the Matcha Detofixying Mask from Milk Makeup into my basket. I’m eager to add this to my skincare routine. I used it for the first time today and my skin is brighter, smooth, and refreshed.

Urban Decay Quick Fix Complexion Prep Priming Spray

This hydrating priming spray helps invigorate and prep my skin for makeup application. The spray-bottle format allows for better hydration than a traditional primer, and my skin feels dewier and makeup applies smoother.

Sephora Collection Lash Curler

I’ve never tried an eyelash curler before and was curious to test one! I bought a gorgeous gold-coloured lash curler from Sephora’s own brand, and it is easy to use while giving my lashes extra volume.

REVIEW: Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray

Hello, lovelies!

I love trying new setting sprays. I usually set my makeup with MAC Fix+ but decided to try Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Setting Spray about two months ago. After one use, I knew this product would become an integral part of my makeup kit. Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Setting Spray is the main product I set my makeup with each day and I’ve completely fallen in love with it!

The Packaging

I adore the packaging of Urban Decay’s Setting Spray! The spray comes in a round bottle with a nozzle for easy use. The packaging itself features a sleek, matte black colour with the Urban Decay logo and the product name embossed on it. I love the swirled, light purple lettering on the bottle. This bottle is lightweight and easy to travel with.

The Mist

The weightless mist feels refreshing on the skin. It is formulated with a unique Temperature Control Technology that lowers the temperature of makeup to increase its longevity. The mist does not feel heavy when spritzed onto the skin and dries down completely when applied. It is completely transparent and does not leave any residue when applied. The product has a pleasant cooling sensation when sprayed into the skin, owing to the mist’s unique Temperature Control Technology.

The Wear

Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Setting Spray has revolutionized my makeup routine. It sets my makeup for the entire day, and my makeup does not fade or crease. Further, the product doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin! I spritz the product onto my skin in the morning and my makeup stays vibrant for 10-12 hours.

How to Use It

Shake the bottle well before use. Hold the bottle a few inches away from the face and mist the skin 2-4 times in an X and T formation then allow to dry. I also regularly apply this product to my eyeshadow brushes before use to intensify the colour of shadows.

Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Setting Spray has revolutionized my makeup routine. The spray increases the longevity of makeup, refreshes my skin and makes my makeup look vibrant and fresh! The spray is available in multiple sizes at Sephora. The mini sized bottle retails for $19, the standard sized bottle retails for $40 and the jumbo-sized bottle retails for $50.

About Me

3 Primers I Use Weekly to Perfect My Skin

Hello, lovelies!

Primer is a staple in my makeup kit. I wear primer underneath my makeup to smooth my skin, and to increase the longevity of the products I apply. I use a variety of primers throughout the week to create a matte, luminous, or dewy finish. I alternate between these three primers:

Urban Decay Rebound Collagen-Infused Complexion Priming Spray

I bought a travel-sized bottle of this priming spray recently, and instantly loved it! This is the first primer I’ve tried from Urban Decay and it will not be my last. The spray makes my skin feel refreshed, hydrated and soft. I apply it to my skin before makeup and my foundation and concealer appear dewy and radiant.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

Smashbox’s iconic Photo Finish Primer is a staple in my makeup kit. It is lightweight, non-greasy and absorbs into my skin quickly. The primer creates a smooth base for makeup, and it helps to even my complexion before I apply foundation. I love that the silky formula of the primer translates to my skin when applied.

Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer

I adore this protective primer! It is a velvety balm that sinks into my skin and instantly makes it feel plump and smooth. The product eliminates excess oil in my skin and gives my complexion a matte finish.

Erin Angela’s Top 4 Eyeshadow Palettes

Hello, lovelies!

Eyeshadow is a staple in my makeup collection. There are certain palettes that I gravitate towards, and create versatile eyeshadow looks with them. Here is a peek into my top four favourite eyeshadow palettes!

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam

The Soft Glam Palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills is an essential palette for neutral, smoky eyeshadow looks. I wear this palette whenever I want to create a soft smoky eye. My favourite shades in this palette are ‘Rose Gold’ and ‘Cyprus Umber’.

2. Urban Decay Born to Run

This is one of the most used palette in my collection. The combination of neutral matte shades, glittery metallics and pops of colour make this a versatile palette for every type of eye makeup look. I wear this palette a few times per week.

3. Huda Beauty Obsessions

I love travelling with my Huda Beauty Obsessions Palette! Though the palette only contains 9 eyeshadows, the orange, brown and burgundy shades enables me to create a variety of looks. I used this palette for an entire week while on vacation last month, and achieved a variety of eyeshadow combinations!

4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina

The Norvina Palette is a beautiful, cool-toned eyeshadow palette for the fall and winter seasons. I wear the mauve, lavender and shimmering shades for special occasions and daily events. I often pair the cool-toned shades with bright, bold lipstick shades.

Erin Angela’s October 2018 Sephora Haul

Hello, lovelies!

I recently shopped at Sephora after a two-month no-buy period. The purpose of my trip was to replace my holy-grail cleanser but I added a few other surprises to my shopping cart that I’m sharing in today’s blog post!

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and Complexion Prep Spray Duo

This duo is part of Urban Decay’s holiday collection and features a travel-sized duo of the brand’s All-Nighter Setting Spray and Complexion Prep Primer Spray. I wanted to try Urban Decay’s iconic setting spray for a while now, and instantly loved it after testing it yesterday! This set is great to travel with.

Smashbox Always Sharp Lip Liner

I’ve always used Bite Beauty lip liners but decided to try one from Smashbox after unsuccessfully finding my favourite shade in store. To my surprise, I love this lip liner! It is creamy and long-wearing. I bought the shade Nude Light, which has a beige-pink undertone. I tested it yesterday and my lipstick did not budge for hours!

Tatcha The Deep Cleanse

I repurchased this cleanser from Tatcha. This has been my main skincare product for a few months, and my skin has become clear and smooth. I adore this cleanser as it does not dry out my skin.

Bite Beauty Agave Treat Trio Mini

This mini Agave lip mask set was an impulse buy. This set comes with three mini tubes of Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Masks in the shades Natural, Maple and Candy Cane. I apply lip masks and balm regularly throughout the fall and winter months and can’t wait to test these out.

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick Sample

I received a lipstick sample from Make Up For Ever. The shade is a beautiful Rose-tones pink. This lipstick is creamy and pairs well with dark or light eyeshadow.

Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrator Sample

I’ve received many samples of Clinique’s Moisture Surge moisturizer before, and adore the soft, supple hydration that the product gives my skin.

REVIEW: Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette

Hello, lovelies!

Urban Decay released a new eyeshadow palette earlier this summer called Born to Run. This palette has been an essential component of my makeup collection and it’s enabled me to create an array of eyeshadow looks – from soft to smoky to colourful. I wanted to test this palette for a few months before reviewing it and it’s definitely been a worthwhile purchase!

The Packaging

The packaging of this palette is beautiful! The palette is sleek and compact but it feels heavy when held. The outside of the palette features a collection of photographs from destinations including a tropical beach, Paris, London’s Big Ben clock, and a forest. This collection of photographs truly represents the ‘born to run’ theme of the palette. The inside of the palette includes a large mirror and an array of 21 eyeshadows.

The Formula

Each eyeshadow is creamy, easy-to-blend and pigmented. There is no fallout present with these shadows and they can be applied dry or with a damp brush to intensify the pigment. This palette contains a combination of matte and metallic shadows.

The Shades

The shade range in this palette is versatile, ranging from matte coral to shimmery bronze, grey, pink and forest-green. Shades within this palette include:

  • Breakaway – Warm ivory shimmer
  • Stranded – Pale gold with a rose shimmer
  • Blaze – Light metallic gold with a peachy undertone
  • Weekender – Matte beige
  • Still Shot – Matte coral
  • Riff – Matte brown with a nude undertone
  • Good As Gone – Dark brown with a iridescent micro-shimmer
  • Hell Ride – Matte fuchsia
  • Baja – Matte brunt orange
  • Accelerate – Metallic coppery-red
  • Guilt Trip – Grape-purple with shimmer
  • Ignite – Metallic rose-gold with copper undertones
  • Smog – Deep copper bronze with shimmer
  • Wanderlust – Forest green with gold micro-shimmer
  • Wildheart – Matte bright fuchsia
  • Punk – Brown with red-copper undertones
  • Double Life – Metallic rust
  • Jet – Shimmering black
  • Drift – Satin charcoal with silver micro-shimmer
  • Radio – Satin teal-blue with micro-shimmer
  • Big Sky – Frosted green shimmer with gold sparkle

The Wear

When each shadow is applied to the lid, it wears comfortably and doesn’t crease, fade, or flake throughout the day. I’ve worn these shadows for 10-12 hours without experiencing any smudging or flaking. I love that the shadows within this palette are wearable for everyday looks, or bold for a night time look.

Urban Decay’s Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette is a great palette if you are looking for a versatile collection of shades, or a palette that is travel-friendly. It retails for $59 at Sephora.

About Me

Erin Angela’s Top Beauty Products of Summer 2018

Hello, lovelies!

With another summer coming to a close, I rounded-up my favourite beauty products of the season. Most of the items on my list are new but I did include one product that is a staple in my makeup kit. Keep reading to find out which products I loved this season!

1. Urban Decay Born to Run Eyeshadow Palette

Urban Decay released this eyeshadow palette in June and I’ve created an array of colour combinations throughout the summer. This palette contains a variety of matte and shimmer shadows with shades ranging from neutral base shades, to smoky purple, grey and forest-green shades with pops of colour. I enjoyed pairing the shades with bright, nude, and vampy lipstick colours.

2. Tatcha The Deep Cleanse

This cleanser is now a key component of my skincare routine. The gentle gel cleanser contains fruit exfoliants that cleared my breakouts without feeling harsh or grainy on my skin. I’ve tried multiple cleansers this year but Tatcha’s Deep Cleanse is my favourite. I started using this cleanser in June and have noticed a dramatic improvement in my skin’s texture, moisture, and reduced breakouts.

3. MAC Fix+

While this product was actually included in last summer’s beauty product round-up, I re-purchased a new bottle this summer and thought it deserved mention again. MAC Fix+ is my daily setting spray. The spray locked my makeup in-place all day and it definitely withstood the warm weather. I spritzed it into my face every day before work and my makeup remained flawless by the time I was ready to remove it again.

4. Tarte Creaseless Under Eye Concealer

I’ve used this concealer all summer and it covers blemishes without feeling caked on my skin. I matched this concealer to my summer foundation and it’s worked as a multi-purpose product as foundation, eyeshadow primer, and a highlight shade.

REVIEW: Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

Hello, lovelies!

I recently received a sample of Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara with purchase at Sephora. I loved the sample of Urban Decay’s Troublemaker Mascara that I received earlier this summer and was excited to compare the two! Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara is creamy and volumizing while adding beautiful length to the lashes.

The Packaging

The mascara is packaged in a sleek black tube that bears the Urban Decay logo and the name of the mascara. It is lightweight and sophisticated. The purple lettering on the tube provides great contrast to the matte black colour of the tube.

The Formula

This mascara has a creamy formula, and the texture of the product feels comfortable on the lashes. It does not clump or smudge once applied. The mascara contains a blend of amino acids to stimulate lash growth, and honey to nourish the lashes. Unlike some mascaras that I’ve tried, Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara does not become flaky with wear. My favourite aspect of this mascara is that it only takes one coat to give my lashes volume and colour.

Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara is available in a standard black shade. I’ve already begun using this mascara daily, and adore the results. It retails for $30 at Sephora.
