REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette

Hello, lovelies!

I often favour eyeshadow palettes with bright, unique shades. That all changed when Anastasia Beverly Hills released the Soft Glam palette. This palette contains a combination of neutral, everyday eyeshadow shades. (Although, I’ll admit, the shade that initially attracted me to the palette is the carbon black shade ‘Noir’.)

The Packaging

I adore the unique colour of this palette. Soft Glam contains 14 eyeshadows, and the same velvety cover as its predecessors. The palette is an eye-catching mustard-yellow. The palette features white lettering.

The Shades

Each shade is versatile. The shades in this palette are wearable during the day or night. The palette contains a combination of matte, duo-chrome and metallic finishes:

  • Tempera – Ultra-matte velvety beige
  • Glistening – Shimmering gold with a pink-pearl reflect
  • Orange Soda – Matte peach
  • Rose Pink – Rose-gold with light pink shimmer
  • Sultry – Chocolate brown with a satin-metallic finish
  • Bronze – Gold shimmer
  • Mulberry – Matte wine
  • Dusty Rose – Matte lilac with pink undertones
  • Fairy – Shimmering champagne
  • Burnt Orange – Matte deep orange
  • Sienna – Matte earthy-brown
  • Rustic – Matte cinnamon
  • Cyprus Umber – Matte dark brown
  • Noir – Matte carbon black

The Performance

I hesitated to try this palette. The last palette released, Subculture, received criticism due to the patchy quality. To my delight, each shadow in the Soft Glam palette was soft, buttery, and blended well. The shimmer shades were bright and pigmented. Each of the matte shades blended easily, though I did experience small patches with the shade Mulberry. There was no fallout or creasing with any of the eyeshadows.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette is a versatile, beautiful palette. The combination of shades pair nicely. I enjoy that I can create softer eyeshadow looks or a bolder, smoky eye. This is a great palette if you prefer softer eyeshadow colours but it also contains a perfect selection of darker shades. If you’ve tried any of Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow singles, you will notice that this palette contains some of those shades.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette retails for $42 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Philosophy Purity Made Simple Face Cleanser

Hello, lovelies!

My skincare routine changes all the time. When I used the last of my go-to face cleanser, I searched for a new product that is gentle but effective. I bought this one-step face cleanser from Philosophy and instantly loved it.

What is it?

A 3-in-1 facial cleanser that cleanses, hydrates and removes makeup.

The Packaging

This cleanser comes in a transparent bottle with a black lid. It is lightweight and simplistic. The transparent bottle displays the cream-colored cleanser inside. The written text on the bottle features the product name (Purity Made Simple) and a brief description of the brand.

The Cleanser

I’ll admit – I was skeptical to use this cleanser. I often notice that pure cleansers do not clear my skin well, but this one did not disappoint. The cleanser has a gel consistency that gently lathers when dispensed onto your palm. It gently removes excess oil and makeup without stripping the skin of moisture. After I rinsed the cleanser off my face, my skin immediately felt softer and looked clearer.

The Scent

The cleanser has a delightful, light citrus scent, thanks to the glycerin and meadowfoam seed oil. It is refreshing and clean.

How to use it

One aspect of this cleanser that I love is how easy it is to use. Simply wet your skin, apply the cleanser using circular motions then rinse. A little product goes a long way when using this cleanser. I typically use a quarter-sized amount each morning.

I’ve used this cleanser daily for the past 2 weeks, and have noticed an improvement in my skin. It prevents breakouts while maintaining my skin’s natural moisture.

Philosophy’s Purity cleanser retails for $32 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Tatcha Water Cream Moisturizer

Hello, lovelies!

One of my skin care resolutions for this year is to consistently apply moisturizer. I received a sample of Tatcha’s Water Cream Moisturizer and was eager to try it on my dry winter skin.

What is it?

This moisturizer is an oil-free water cream. It releases skin-improving Japanese nutrients and botanicals for a hydrated complexion.

The Packaging

The product comes in a gorgeous pale-blue container. It features the Tatcha logo in luxurious gold-writing. A gold-coloured bow sits atop the cover.

The Moisturizer

It is a lightweight, creamy moisturizer. When applied to the skin, the product dries quickly without leaving a residue. The moisturizer smells faintly of Jasmine and fresh roses.

How to use it

Gently massage the cream into the skin on your face and neck.

Tatcha’s The Water Cream is a soothing, creamy moisturizer. It retails for $82 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio

Hello, lovelies!

Blush is one item that I’ve worn a lot this season. My go-to blush is Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio in the shade Pool Party. This blush palette gives my skin the perfect hint of pink.

The Packaging

The blushes come in a sturdy, weighted compact. This design makes the blushes travel-friendly and easy to mix-and-match. I adore the sleek design of the palette, which features the ABH logo and a shiny black finish.

The Blush

The blush texture is soft, smooth and not chalky. The blush applies creamy but remains dry. Each colour is buildable and allows you to apply a lighter or darker shade.

The Colour

I own the Pink Passion palette. This palette features peach and pink blushes. The three colours in this palette are:

  • Basically – Orchid pink
  • Sugar – Bubblegum pink
  • Rose – Petal pink

Overall, this trio of blushes is a great product if you’re looking for a lightweight, pigmented blush. Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio retails at Sephora for $30.

REVIEW: Tarte Deep Dive Cleansing Gel

Hello, lovelies!

I received a sample of Tarte Cosmetics Deep Dive Cleansing Gel recently at Sephora. This face cleanser is one of the products in Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea skincare line. This gentle cleanser is both an effective skincare product and makeup remover, which makes it one of my favorite multi-purpose products! The cleanser brightens, hydrates, and gently cleanses.

The Packaging

Like other Tarte products, this product comes in a colorful bottle. The cleanser is packaged into a bottle with a pump to easily dispense it. The package features an intricate pattern of delicate leaves. The bottle is lightweight and the pump design ensures that the product is mess-free.

The Product

I enjoy using face cleansers that are soft, lightly-fragrant and non-irritating. This cleanser from Tarte is a must-have for me. The cleanser itself is cool and clear, and it gently lathers when you rub it between your fingertips. Once massaged into the skin, it rinses quickly without leaving a residue. After 1-2 uses, my skin appeared softer, hydrated, and I noticed fewer blemishes.

How to use it?

This cleanser is my go-to on mornings when I only have a few minutes to spare on my skincare. Dispense the product onto your fingertips before gently rubbing them together. Once a lather forms, massage the gel into your skin in circular motions before rinsing with warm water. I like to use this cleanser on a daily basis to supplement my skincare routine.

Tarte’s Deep Dive Cleansing Gel is a gentle, soothing, and effective cleanser. Because it may be used as a cleanser or makeup remover, it can be included throughout your skin care routine. It is gentle and leaves your skin feeling moisturized. The product retails for $30 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Origins Eye Cream

Hello, lovelies!

Origins Eye Cream is a moisturizing serum that reduces signs of aging. This cream is also useful for reducing puffiness around the eyes, which makes it a useful product even if your skin is wrinkle-free. I use it in the mornings to reduce puffiness and the cream provides a smooth, hydrated base for my eye makeup.

The Packaging

Like other Origins products, this eye cream is packaged in a simple, clean tube. The design on the tube displays the Origins logo, making it tidy and clear. The tube itself is white and opaque with a rounded top to dispense the cream.

The Cream

The cream feels light and cooling once applied to the skin. I use it underneath my eyes to combat puffiness but it can also be used to add moisture to the eyelids. It also absorbs into the skin quickly without leaving residue. After 1-2 uses, I noticed the areas underneath my eyes appeared brighter and de-puffed.

How to use it?

It may be used both morning and night. Wash your face and eyelids then gently pat dry. After applying your favourite cleanser, apply the eye cream in a gentle patting motion.

This cream de-puffs the eyes while adding extra moisture. I like that it is fast-absorbing and moisturizes quickly. This product is quick and easy to use, which makes it a great addition to your daily skin care routine.

Origins Eye Cream retails for $47 at Sephora.

REVIEW: Anastasia Beverly Hills Aurora Glow Kit

Hello, lovelies!

I love trying new highlighters. I’ve wanted to try one of the Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kits for a while. I bought the Aurora Glow Kit a few months ago after swatching the unique shades in Sephora. This diverse range of shades was surprisingly easy to incorporate into my daily makeup collection. Each shade adds an iridescent hue to the eyes, cheekbones, or lips.

The Packaging

The bright purple and silver packaging is beautiful. The reflective surface bounces off light and creates a multi-colored reflect. Each highlight is pressed into a pan. The pan itself is nestled into a sturdy cardboard. The package is lightweight and easy to travel with.

The Shades

This glow kit contains 6 shades:

  • Eclipse – Champagne pearl with peach shimmer
  • Luna – Pearl with a bright, icy shimmer
  • Spectra – Lilac with a blue-green shimmer
  • Helia – Yellow-gold shimmer
  • Orion – Bright blue with a silver shimmer
  • Lyra – Orange-gold with champagne shimmer

How to wear it?

To apply the shades, sweep them onto the skin with your favourite brush or your fingertips. This palette is incredibly versatile. Each shade may be worn separately or layered together. I use this palette to mainly highlight my cheekbones and tip of my nose. I have also used it as a sparkly eyeshadow and lipstick.

I adore the buttery, versatile pigments in this palette. If you like brighter highlight shades, this is a great palette to try! The Aurora Glow Kit retails for $40 at Sephora.
